Questions & Answers

For Ge Round Igniter (Part Number: OEM6127911)

1 Answer

Rosemarie, You will want to check the ducting from the blower wheel to the outside of the home to make sure that the venting is clear. This is the most likely cause for the issue that you are having. You will also want to check the thermostats in the unit to make sure that they are good for continuity.

Brian, the first check should be for loose connections at the gas valve coils 279834, ignitor WE4X444 and the flame sensor WE4X448. A more common issue is a weak set of ignitor clips WE1X941, they can become weak with heat and age and loose contact with the ignitor and create an intermittent ignition.

David for Model Number DDC 4580 BAL WH

My parents have an older GE dryer and the igniter (WE4X444) has cracked needing replacement - it burnt the spring loaded clip or it's bracket slightly (WE1X941). My question is if the bracket has been compromised and is also needing replacement? Just the metal clips have a minimal burn where the igniter has melted it a bit on one side. The clip still works perfectly to hold the igniter securely. The machine model is DDC 4580 BAL WH and is approaching 30 years with this being its first repair. Anything else to look at that may have caused igniter to fail other than age? Thanks so much! David

Hello David. Usually this just happens due to age and break down. if the bracket is not bad, then it should be fine. If it is bad, then it will need to be replaced with the igniter on the unit.

Hello Nathan. If the igniter is out again, you may have gotten a bad igniter and will need to replace it again. Test for power to it. If there is power there, replace the igniter.

Hello John, You would want to lift the main top of unit, take the front panel off and replace from the front with front panel removed. To remove top there are screws that hold main top to the front when you open door. Remove the screws and lift top. Once top is lifted you will remove screws that hold in front panel.

Hello Harvey. GE does not offer any information on removing the burner WE14M104 in this model. According to the instructions, you will remove the igniter bracket assembly by removing 1 hex screw from the dryer, and should not need to remove the burner. Hope this helps.
