  • Works with the door/light switch to illuminate the compartment or dispenser area
  • Typical failures include heat damage, cracking, or internal contact wear
  • Symptoms: no light, intermittent flicker, or a bulb that won't seat firmly
What's included: One lamp socket (E12 base) Install notes:
  • Disconnect power to the refrigerator before servicing
  • Remove any lens/cover, note wire placement, and install the new socket in the original orientation

  • Restore power and verify operation with the door switch

For Ge Light Socket (E12 Base) (Part Number: OEM6183210)

Marty for Model Number GE GSS25QGTA

I am looking to replace part number AP2061067 which is the light dispenser socket on the freezer door. I can not find a “how to” video as I have for other parts that needed replacement. I think the socket might have shorted out as the light indicator is on and I have tried 2 new bulbs. I have to keep the light on 24/7 to prevent the water dispenser line from freezing up (light stopped working earlier today and sure enough, now no water tonight since the line is frozen). Can you provide assistance in replacing the part? Thanks.

Marty, You will want to grab the bottom of the dispenser control and pull out. This will allow the control panel to be popped off. Once you have the display removed you can remove the funnel assembly and remove the light socket.

Hello Lex. Remove the back wall and squeeze the locking tabs for the socket. Remove the socket from the unit and unplug the wires. Install new one in reverse order. Make sure the power is disconnected.

You might have a frozen water line in the freezer door assembly. You can test this by removing the water line from the bottom of the freezer door, and pressing the dispenser to see if you get water there. If so you will need to do a 24 hour thaw out, with the doors open and power off, to clear this up. Hope this helps.
