Ricardo L. January 28, 2013 for Model Number ZGU385NSM1SS Hi, my stove stopped clicking when I try to light any one of my burners, have to use a lighter. I am thinking it is the spark module, but it is only my best guess, do you agree? Otherwise the stove works great.
1 Answer Hello Ricardo. Test the spark switches and make sure they are closing when set to light. If so, you will need to order and replace the spark module on the unit. Read More...
Jon April 25, 2011 for Model Number General Electric ZGU375NSD1SS Gas range The range pilot light mechanism clicks when starting a burner but never stops clicking after the burner lights. All burner lights with the pilot light but just keeps clicking after the burner lights. Only way I can stop the clicking is to unplug the electricity. I don't believe it is the ignitor as my assumption is that affected burner would not light if the ignitor was bad. All burners lights using the pilot ignitor, it just doesn't stop clicking or keeps acting like it is trying to ignite the burner even though it is lit. Do you think it is the spark module? Second question, how do I take the top of the unit off to get to the spark module or do I have to remove the entire unit from the counter to access the spark module? Thanks. Jon
1 Answer Hello Jon. It does sound like the spark module is bad, and will need to be replaced. Here are the instructions from the manufacture on how to access the spark module. Hope this helps. Maintop Removal Note: Maintop removal is required for: • Spark module • Gas piping inspection • Wiring service • Valve replacement • Jet holder service • Manifold service • Indicator light replacement • Bezel replacement • Isolation transformer 1. Remove the valve knobs. 2. Remove the burner caps and burner head assemblies. 3. Remove the 1-1/16 in. burner ring locking nut. 4. Remove the large brass orifice tube from the center of each burner base using a 20-mm or a 13/16-in. socket. Caution: When removing the wire from the igniter, make sure you do not damage the heat shrink insulation on the wire. If damaged, repair the wire insulation with fiberglass tape. 5. Lift each burner base and disconnect the pushon wire terminal from the spark electrode. Place the burner base assemblies in a safe place. Note: When assembling, check the integrity of the heat shrink on the igniter leads going to the electrodes. If damaged, proper ignition may not occur. Repair the wire insulation with fiberglass tape. 6. Remove the left screws holding the bezels for the left-front and right-front gas valve knobs. 7. Raise the maintop front about 6 in. and disconnect the 6-pin connector under the maintop and behind the right-front valve. 8. Push the spark electrode wires through the holes in the maintop. 9. Pick the maintop straight up and place face up in a safe area where it will not be scratched or accidently knocked over. 10. To service the spark module or transformer, remove the heat shield held by 4 Phillips screws. 11. To reinstall the maintop, reverse the procedure 1 through 10. Read More...
