This spark module controls ignition for your range's surface burners. When you turn a burner knob, it generates the high-voltage spark the electrodes need to ignite the gas quickly and consistently.
Refer to Mynor T. of Draper, UT Aug. 12, 2018 write-up. I benefited greatly from the above write-up. It took me a little less time to perform this repair (excluding cleaning the assembly) due to the write-up. This GE Profile gas burner cook top is a “drop-in” model meant to be installed into counter top cut outs. The glass top edges are the actual support area for the entire cook top assembly. The burner bases (on top of the glass top) are screwed to the metal case enclosure (located beneath... Read more
The Spark Module is an OEM part for GE ranges and cooktops. This module ignites the burners, ensuring that they light quickly and efficiently every time the appliance is used. It works by generating and transmitting electrical sparks to the burner when the control knob is turned on.
These issues can arise due to moisture exposure, grease buildup, electrical faults, or simple wear and tear over time.
Symptoms of a failing spark module include:
This OEM GE part is also compatible with Hotpoint, RCA, and some Kenmore models.
Each part came with a video - great site. Prices are reasonable and parts are OEM. Would use them again. Read more
This six-point spark ignition module for gas cooktops/ranges converts line voltage into high-voltage pulses that fire the burner igniters. It restores consistent, reliable lighting across multiple burners when you turn a knob.
This spark module controls surface-burner ignition on gas cooktops and ranges, sending high-voltage pulses to the igniters when you turn a knob. Replacing a failed module restores quick, consistent sparking so burners light reliably.

This 4-point spark igniter module supplies timed spark to four burner electrodes so a gas range lights reliably. It replaces a failed ignition control to restore consistent, on-demand sparking across the cooktop. What it does:

The Spark Module is an OEM part for GE cooktops. Located within the cooktop's control unit, this module is responsible for generating electric sparks to ignite the burners. Consisting of electronic components and wiring, the spark module works with other systems to reliably and safely light the gas or electric burners.
Symptoms of a bad spark module include:
Causes of a failed spark module can be exposure to moisture, dust or debris accumulating inside the control unit over time as well as mechanical or electrical degradation of the ignition components.
This genuine OEM GE replacement part is also compatible with some Kenmore cooktop models that use GE's control systems.
Ordered the correct size drip bowls (All drip bowls have the same outside diameter but different (small, medium or large) inside hole diameters.) Removed 5 knobs by pulling straight up. Removed grate, burner cover, and burner from each of the five burners. Unscrewed two hold down screws from center of each drip bowl. Lifted each drip bowl, pulled wire off the igniter, pushed U-shaped clip off igniter and pulled igniter up thru top of drip bowl, pushed igniter down thru top of new bowl, pushed... Read more
Turned out the little switches on the knob shaft had corroded and were staying on. There was constant continuity showing with an ohm meter. Replacing the switches was very easy (always disconnect power to the unit before servicing). Bought a new ignitor module as a backup as they do go out of production after 10 years or so- another cheap and easy fix if needed in the future. Read more
