George St.John December 23, 2015 for Model Number PGS975SEMiSS Refering to an earlier Question I asked about my gas range not working properly I replaced the igniter wire as you suggested The problem still is exists. It seems that every time I take it apart it seems better for a few hours then goes back to the same old problem. I have taken it apart about five times. I'm thinking of replacing the spark module wire harness. What are your thoughts?
1 Answer George, If the unit is not sparking on the top burners then yes the most likely cause will be a faulty spark module. Check all the connections to make sure that there are no loose connections and test the ignition switch has continuity in the lite position. Read More...

Julie July 08, 2015 for Model Number PGP990SEN1SS My GE Gas Downdraft Model PGP990SEN1SS the front left burner will not make a spark noise and light on it's on. But when I start to turn on the back left burner to hear the spark noise that is when I can turn on the front burner and then it will light. I do not know what part could be bad. Any ideas?
Sridhar A. May 14, 2015 for Model Number PGP990SEN1SS The gas igniters on all four burners keep clicking continuously even after drying. Sometimes it will stop but will start again. Is it a problem with spark module or the electrodes? Thanks
1 Answer Hello Sridhar, This is most likely an issue with the ignition switch assembly WB24X10143. Read More...
George S. January 23, 2015 for Model Number PGS975SEM1SS This Gas range GE Profile is seven years old model # PGS975SEM1SS. The top burners back left & front right have an inconsistent spark, also weak. we are having a very hard time getting it to light. I have replaced all igniters, spark module and switch harness. The problem still exsists as if I've done nothing. What should I try next. George
1 Answer George, you'll need to check or replace the igniter wire harness WB18T10393. It sounds like you have a loose connection at the spark module or a couple of partially grounded igniter wires or connections causing a weak spark. Read More...
Ralph January 02, 2015 for Model Number jgs968kss The gfi plug to our range opened. I had a closed circuit on all the components, on the range, until I unplugged the spark module and plugged it back in. All circuits opened and I was able to reset the gfi plug. Everything was ok for about 6 weeks, then it happened again. this time the plugged reset the first try and display lit up. Do you think the spark module could cause this? Thanks.
1 Answer Ralph, The spark module can cause the GFI to pop and would need to be replaced. The other issue is that the unit should not be hooked up to a GFI and would need to be on a designated circuit with a breaker. Read More...
Brendan C March 11, 2014 for Model Number PGs908 Only one burner ignites and actually gets a spark. One other work intermittently and now never have a visable spark. Do I replace spark module right away, or check the ground as the other posting suggested. It is pretty involved to remove the top, so I would prefer not to do that?
1 Answer Brendan, If only one of the igniters is sparking on the entire cooktop then yes the spark module will most likely be the issue. If all but one are sparking then you would want to check for the grounded wire or check the spark switch to make sure that it has continuity when it is in the light position. If no continuity then the spark switch is faulty and will need to be replaced. Read More...
Rico January 16, 2014 for Model Number JGS968SH3SS I have a ge slide in glass top natural gas convection oven . Model JGS968S0H3SS The burners light and work, but the flames are all over the place. They can bit yellow and they grow larger and smaller at times .I would say they is a air fuel problem ? I checked the broiler which we really never use, and it seems to work fine all nice even blue flames . I did check the orficie they were clear but had carbon on them . I would say I still need to check the lower oven burners also. To see if the flames are yellow and larger at times also .
1 Answer Hello Rico. It sounds like the burners and orifices are dirty and need to be cleaned on the unit. It will cause the issues you are having if they are dirty. Read More...

Phil February 07, 2013 for Model Number ge profile cooktop 30 inch with down draft After a year of matches and reading the questions about constant sparking, allow me add this to the list of questions before replacing numerous parts that are not bad. I too lean towards the spark module, This is why... All four burners constantly spark. I have had to unplug the unit to make it stop. I removed both burner units completely off the cooktop and when I plug it in all I hear is a constant clicking in the area of the spark module. your thoughts please. thanks
1 Answer Hello Phil, What you would need to do is to check the ignition switches to make sure that they are good. To check them turn off gas to unit and access the switches. With the switches in the off position check each one for continuity. If there is continuity then you would need to replace the switch. If no continuity through any of the switches then you will want to check wiring for damage that would complete circuit. If this checks ok then replace spark module. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
