David G. May 23, 2011 for Model Number DBXR453ET3WW The GE Timer (Part Number: AP2042593) on my dryer only times out to the "OFF" position using the "TIMED DRY" setting. It does NOT time out in the "AUTOMATIC COTTONS" or "AUTOMATIC PERMANENT PRESS" positions. Has the timer "burned out" in those positions? Can I get by with using just the "TIMED DRY" setting?
1 Answer Hello David. This unit has a resistor, part WE4M186 that regulates the voltage to the timer. This is part 80 on the control panel diagram. I will include a link to this diagram in this message. If it fails, the timer may stop advancing. If that part tests ok, you may want to test the element itself to ensure it is properly connected and there are no issues with grounding. I hope this helps! http://www.appliancepartspros.com/sect/t/n/k/tnk6tc6hng.gif Read More...
