For Ge Timer (Electromechanical Oven Timer) (Part Number: OEM6127788)

Hello Chris. If the heater is not working properly, it can cause the timer WE4M188 not to advance. It sounds like the venting system is clogged or kinked. You will need to check the vent and clean it out. Be sure and clean the vent pipe and the dryer air duct assembly. If the air flow is not good, the unit will retain moist air causing the clothes not to dry. Try running the unit with the vent unhooked from the back of the dryer and see if the dryer works properly. Hope this helps.

Hello Eric. Contrary to popular belief, the heat in the dryer does not dry the clothes. The air flow does. The heat is an assistance to the air flow. The heat evaporates the moisture but the air flow carries the moisture away from the clothes. In light of this information, I would recommend that you check your exhaust duct to ensure that it's not crimped or too long and complicated. The shorter and straighter the exhaust is, the faster the clothes will dry, the lower the electric bill will be, and the longer the dryer will last. The timer is fine. The symptom that gives away the cause of the problem is the fact that the timer advances in the timed dry cycle. To assure yourself that this is in fact the issue, disconnect your exhaust duct and try any of the automatic cycles. The timer will advance after about 2 minutes because it's getting rid of the moisture which stops the timer when sensed. Sure hope this helps you!

Hello David. Check the moisture bars on the inside of the dryer drum and make sure they are clean. Also check the wires going to them and make sure they are not broken. The bars are under the lint filter section at the front of the drum. If they are good, the thermostat may be bad WE4M156. You will need to test and see if there is power going to the timer motor, when the thermostat is closed. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. Hope this helps. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html
