The Diode Assembly is an OEM replacement part for LG microwaves. As an electrical part, it plays a key role in regulating power distribution throughout the microwave.

Symptoms of a bad diode assembly can include:

  • Lights or displays failing to illuminate
  • Inability to power the microwave or select cooking functions
  • Intermittent or unexpected shutting off during use
  • Sparking, burning smells or tripped circuit breakers

Causes may arise from repetitively fluctuating power loads degrading individual diodes over time. Moisture intrusion into electrical pathways can also cause issues.

This genuine LG OEM assembly is also compatible with some Kenmore microwave models as well.

Karen, It is possible to have bad connectors and unfortunately, the manufacturer does not list wire connections separately. You would need to cut off the old connectors and splice new ones on.

Niccook1 for Model Number Kenmore/Sears Microwave Model 72180032700

Regarding Kenmore/Sears Microwave Model 72180032700 a] Is Diode Part Number AP4438388 the diode that should be replaced at the same time that I replace a bad magnetron on this oven? If not, what diode with part number is the correct one to replace? [In other customer questions, you advise replacing both mangnetron and diode at the same time.] b] What is the parts diagram number/label for Diode Part Number AP4438388 as it appears on the parts diagram for this diode? Is it diagram part number 5018? [Note: Parts diagram in question and diode page from which it is linked are referenced below] c] What is the name and the APP stock part number for the part that is labeled Part 5000 on the diode diagram, to which diagram part number 5018 connects? Diode AP4438388 part page: http://www.appliancepartspros.com/lg-diode-6021w3b001v-ap4438388.html Parts diagram linked from Diode AP4438388 part page: http://cdn-d.appliancepartspros.com/0028701923_4.gif THANK YOU

Niccook1, The diode for this unit will be part number 6021W3B001V and it would not be a bad idea to replace at the same time as the magnetron. The diode is number 5018 in the diagram and on the unit would connect to the base of the unit and the capacitor which would be the number 5000 on the diagram and is part number 0CZZW1H004B.

Hitesh, You will want to check the thermostats in the unit for continuity. If they test ok then the issue, with this being a intermittent problem, will be a faulty control board.

Doug, In most cases when a microwave operates but does not heat, the issue would be caused by a faulty magnetron. You can test the magnetron for resistance which should have less than 1 ohm of resistance.

Hello Joel, This capacitor is designed to replace the capacitor in several models. Some of these models use a different connection for the diode, therefore, the one that is not of the same configuration is for a different model and can be thrown away as an extra part.

Gary, The first inclination would be to check or replace the capacitor 0CZZW1H004C and diode 6851W1A001V. If eithert is weak or failed, this can produce a loud buzzing noise, odor, and a no cook situation. There's also a posibility that the transformer 6170W1D052Z or magnetron 2B71165R has failed. All these components are high voltage, and you'll need to be very careful and make sure the power is disconnected, and the capacitor is discharged before you start any repairs or tests.

Hello Keith. Yes, the cable assembly 6021W3B001V is the diode for the model number you provided. You should only be able to read through the diode in one direction. If the diode reads both ways, it is bad. Hope this helps.
