This sensor monitors water flow inside the dishwasher to ensure proper water circulation during wash and rinse cycles. It sends signals to the control board to regulate water intake and pump operation. Replace this sensor if the dishwasher displays error codes related to water flow, fails to fill properly, or stops mid-cycle due to incorrect flow detection.

Siebren, the thermistor would be a part of the heater assembly AEG72950001 which should measure a resistance of 12K-13K Ohms at room temperature.

Terry for Model Number LDF6810ST/01

It seems the dishwasher is getting too much water, not heating it enough, and leaving a large amount of water (estimate 1/2 gallon or more) that drains at the start of a new wash cycle. It drains the residual water fine - no blockage but I do get a HE error which indicates the water may not be hot enough. The heater and thermistor checks good and I even tried a new heater. I changed the float assembly and no help. Does the flow sensor contribute to the amount of fill or simply measure the internal flow when operating? Please help!

Terry, there should be no more than 1" of water standing at the bottom of the sump. 1/2 gallon of water would be considered excessive and would indicate a slowly leaking valve 5221DD1001F. In regards to the unit not heating, as the heater/thermistor assembly was changed out, there would either be a broken wire or a failed main control (For serial number beginning in 601-612 use control 6871DD1006H, for serial number beginning in 701 or higher use 6871DD1006R. Unfortunately, the main control has been discontinued by the manufacturer and is no longer available.

Kendi,

You can test to make sure that you have 5 to 12 Vdc getting to the hall sensor. We do not have any information on the flow switch. It would be recommended to test at the water valve to see if there is 120 Vac getting to the valve. If there is but no water coming in then the valve would be the issue. If there is no power then the control board will be the issue.

Wayne,
You should be getting an error message if the water temp does not rise. Make sure if you have hot water at the sink that hot water enters the unit when filling. If you are plumbed to cold water it will definitely affect the machine. Try purging the water at the sink till it's hot then start a cycle and after it has filled open the door and touch the water. We will send you testing info on the thermistor and heater circuit.

Dan for Model Number LDF7774ST

Our LG dishwasher started throwing OE error code. I checked drain hose it is clear it has worked fine for 4 years. In checking everything I think I have it narrowed down to a sensor with a impeller on the drain assembly. The part number is 6501DD2001A but not sure how to determine for sure. If you push the two buttons to drain the unit it drains but when you wash Load of dishes it will throw error in cycle and leave water small amount of water in tub. I also checked and cleaned filter that made no difference. Thank you

Dan,

Unfortunately there is no test that is showing that you can do for this sensor to see if it is good or bad. Normally this information would be on the tech sheet on the unit. It is likely that this sensor could be the issue that is causing this failure or a control board that is at fault.

Ronnie S. for Model Number LDF7551ST

I have an OE code which is a drain issue. I've checked the drain pump and no blockages and it runs when removed from the dishwasher. If I blow into the drain tube at the pump end it is blocked unless I press the 'needle valve' down (this is located on the left-hand side of the unit where the pump tube and sink tube are connected by a 'U' tube. This 'U' tube is not shown on any drawings here but it has a small black tube that connects to F040). Similarly, if I blow into the tube at the sink end it is blocked unless the needle valve is pressed down. My question is what does this needle valve do and how does it work? If this is faulty could that be causing my OE drain issue as no tubes are kinked or flattened and there are no objects lodged anywhere? When the dishwasher is draining the pump will only run for a few seconds and only about 5 oz. of water is pumped out.

Hello Ronnie,
You will need to verify that the diverter motor is good and is able to switch the diverter valve from water circulation to drain. If something is blocking the diverter valve, the motor will not be strong enough to force the movement of the valve. Also, to check for a restriction/clog in the drain line you would need to disconnect the drain from the dishwasher and blow through it toward the sink drain since there is normally a check valve in the drain line designed to prevent sink waters' entry into the dishwasher. You should also check for plastic, (like they use to wrap individually wrapped cheese), around the pump impeller or elsewhere in the dishwasher, clogged filters, and check that the drain pump impeller has not separated from the drain pump motor shaft. Let us know if further assistance is needed.

Hello Bernie,
The E1 error code indicates excessive RPM of Washing Motor happened during Wash cycle due to water leakage. As per the service manual on the unit this can be caused by one or more of the following:
Water leakage in Hose connections.
Water is leaked by damages.
The Motor Water Seal leakage of Sump assembly.
The height of Drain Hose connection (sink-Drain Hose) is not over 20 inches.
Impeller of the Wash pump is worn away/damaged.
The float assembly is not working.
The lower tub gasket came loose or fell off.

Hello James. It measures the amount of water flow into the unit. If it goes bad, the machine will throw an error code for the flow meter.
