The Sensor Assembly is an OEM part for LG washing machines. This component is crucial for detecting and monitoring various conditions within the washing machine, such as water level, temperature, and load balance. It ensures the machine operates efficiently and effectively by providing accurate data to the control board.

Causes of a bad sensor assembly can include wear and tear from regular use, exposure to water and detergents, electrical malfunctions, or damage from impact. A faulty sensor assembly can lead to incorrect readings, which can affect the washing machine’s performance and lead to issues such as improper water levels or unbalanced loads.

Symptoms of a bad Sensor Assembly include:

  • Incorrect water levels during cycles
  • The washing machine stopping mid-cycle or not completing cycles
  • Error codes related to water level or load balance
  • The machine failing to start or operate correctly

This OEM LG part is also compatible with Sears/Kenmore models.

John Parker Jr for Model Number WT5101HV

Could Rotor position switch cause my lg wt5101hv to stop full of water with no error code I was able to do most of the tests in QC test self mode but it will not do the 9th press t7 and 10th press t8. On t8 it’s supposed to spin drum at different speeds however only the drain pump runs. It just sits with no error code. So I got it drain cycled power and now when you start new cycle it just sits flashing load sensor and never does anything else never gives error code just sits flashing

John, Thanks for the question!!! It could be the rotor sensor, But I would lean more toward the rotor or main control. Test to see if the control is applying voltage to the motor. If no then the control is bad, if yes replace the rotor.

Michael, It would be recommended to check to make sure that the door lock is working properly and check for a wiring issue within the unit with it being an intermittent thing.

Marqus for Model Number WTW8900BW0

Good morning while hooking up my whirlpool cabrio platinum and started a normal washing cycle. I noticed mid way through the wash it jumped down from 27 minutes to 4 minutes. Drained the remaining water in the drum than did a few spins than shut off and gave me a OL code. I have done some research and everything I have seeing so far stated to replace the motor stator. I have taken apart and cleaned the agitator, also have purchased a new motor stator and replaced. Since than I am still recieveing the OL code with 4 pieces of towels in the washer. What else could be the problem that I am missing?

1 Answer

Hello Marqus, the fault code refers to the control board showing the drive motor requiring too much power in wash.In that case, the control board will cancel the cycle. On this washer design for that code, first, remove the clothes basket and check the drive shaft for corrosion, the basket has to float up about an inch in the wash cycle to disengage the hubdrive gear, also that there is no clothing that got under it as it would cause the same problem.

Greg for Model Number WM2688HNM

I have an LG WM2688HNM washing machine. I started a load this morning and noticed an odd metallic noise about 45 minutes into the cycle. When I checked on the noise, it was during the spin cycle and the machine was not spinning. The machine was full of soapy water. I canceled the cycle and unplugged the machine. When I restored power and turned it back on I tried a rinse and spin cycle. The first thing the cycle does is spin and that did not happen, just the noise. It pumps in water and will toss the clothes around but when it comes time to really spin, the drum is stationary and noisy. I am guessing this is a bearing failure. Looking at your repair symptoms, I do not think this is a sensor. What do you suggest on the repair?

1 Answer

Hello Greg, the control will not allow the spin cycle unless it sees the tub water has drained, the noise may be the drain pump having a problem, if so the drain pump is 4681EA2001T.

Hello Vincent, the LE is a fault code when the control board sees a problem powering the drive motor. It can be caused by excess suds in the tub, a rear spin bearing problem (bearings starting to seize), or a faulty rotor position sensor 6501KW2002B.

Phillip, the error LE can be caused by a loose wire connector, a broken wire, a failed stator winding or hall sensor 4417EA1002Y, or even a failed main control board EBR78534502. With the rotor removed, the stator windings can be tested for resistance and should measure between 5 to 15O when each of the three terminals are tested to the others. If the windings test good, the hall sensor can be tested for incoming voltage by turning the washer on (do not start a cycle) and testing from the white wire (red meter probe) to the gray wire (black meter probe) for 10-15VDC. If the voltage is there, the main control is sending voltage so the washer would need to be turned off, rotor placed back on, and the main control accessed for further testing. Once the main control is accessed, there will be a four wire connector with a grey wire, red wire, white wire, and blue wire. With the black meter probe placed on the grey wire, the washer will need to be turned on and the red probe placed at the red wire. While rotating the spin basket by hand, there should be a 10VDC voltage shown. The red probe would then be moved to the blue wire for the same test results. If there is not a return voltage shown at either the red or blue wire, the hall sensor has failed. If there is a return voltage, the main control has failed.

Chris for Model Number LG WM2277HW

Hello, I have an LG WM2277HW. While it was running on a quick wash cycle it started to have an electrical smell. It had 8 minutes left and I walked away for 5 or so minutes came back and it was still on 8 minutes. The smell was worse. Turned it off and decided to run another load to see if I could tell what was happening. It ran for a few minutes and stopped and gave an LE code. While I stood watching it the drum would turn counter clockwise but 9 out of 10 times when it tried going clockwise it made a sort of buzzing sound and acted like it was binding and would not turn in that direction. I pulled the whole thing apart (few yrs ago I had replaced bearings, seals, spider purchased from appliance parts pros) to see if the problem would be obvious. No such luck. Do you think the rotor position sensor switch is bad? I did check the stator, all three tested at 8 ohms. Thanks for your time.

1 Answer

Chris, The RPS sensor would be a likely cause for this. The best option would be to get the tech sheet located inside the unit and do the testing specified under the LE code. This will guide you to which part has failed.

Tim, the stator assembly 4417EA1002H will need to be tested for resistance (while the washer is unplugged from the outlet) and it should measure a resistance between 5-15O from terminal 1 to terminal 2, terminal 1 to terminal 3, and terminal 2 to terminal 3. The measurements should be the same. If the resistance is not within tolerance, then the stator would need to be replaced. If the resistance is within tolerance, then the main control EBR38163350 would be the likely cause.
