The Lid Switch and Lock Assembly is an OEM component specifically designed for LG washing machines. It contains both the switch that detects when the lid is closed, as well as the metal lock mechanisms that securely engage the lid during active cycles. This switch contains a 47-inch wire harness with 6-pin plugs.

Symptoms of a bad lid switch and lock assembly include:

  • The washer not starting or agitating with the lid open
  • Inability to fully close or lock the washer lid
  • Error codes related to sensed lid position issues

Causes of failure involve wear of lock moving parts combined with mechanical and electrical degradation over thousands of uses. Continuous hinge motions and detergent/cleaner exposure take their toll.

This Lid switch is also compatible with Kenmore units reliant on LG parts.

Fred, If there is power getting to the main control board then the main board will most likely be the problem with the unit.

Keno, the lid switch EBF61674802 is at pin 4 (white wire, black probe) and pin 5 (gray wire, red probe) of the connector and can be tested for 5VDC for control output. If the control EBR67466116 does not produce 5VDC with the unit on, then the control has failed. The lock solenoid is pin 3 (red wire, red probe during lock) and pin 6 (blue wire, black probe during lock) and should have a 5VDC output from the main control as well. Pin 1 (black wire) to pin 2 (brown wire) should have a 13VDC output from the main control for the lock motor. If any of the voltage readings fail, then the main control has failed. If the voltage readings are good, then the lid lock assembly has failed.

TDA, If no hot water is flowing then this would most likely be an issue with the control board of the unit.

Dana for Model Number WT5070CW

I have an LG WT5070CW top load clothes washer and over the last few months the unit seems to be much for sensitive to being out of balance, as in too sensitive causing the unit at times to keep trying to rebalance wash loads wasting many liters of water and overextending wash cycles. I have also noticed when I try to complete the required cleaning cycle for cleaning the unit itself in spite of having selected the washing machine cleaning mode the unit still will not finish the cleaning cycle as it reports an error of being out of balance ( of course there are not clothes in the unit, it's in cleaning mode ). Any idea what is going on? The units cabinet seems balanced, it is sitting on a good quality poured concrete slab/floor. Are these units THAT sensitive to being exactly leveled? Sometimes, it works perfectly with no issues (even when I think there will be a problem) and other times I will have to adjust the load of laundry several times to get the machine to finish the spin cycle. In the "old days" you could just push the cycle ahead or deal with a little extra noise but not with these modern computer controlled machines.

Dana, The first thing to check would be the suspension rods to make sure that they are good. If they check ok then check the rotor and stator for cracks or damage.

Wayne for Model Number WT5070CW

I started having a problem with my LG(wt5070cw) washing machine that shows up during the rinse cycle. The tub drains then spins then fills and then stalls before agitation. The controls are lit but are unresponsive and I have to unplug the machine, plug it back in and select spin only to complete the cycle. I get no error codes. Approx 1 or 2 out of 10 loads or will run to the end without problem. Most recently I have noticed the machine will stall during the wash cycle occasionally. I have tested the water inlet valves and they seem fine, the machine fills and drains normally.

Hello Dean. Make sure the lid is aligning properly with the hole so the lock can work. If so, replace the board.

Anthony, If you are referring to opening the casing on the switch assembly. The wire should already be attached and would run back to the control board. On the control board there would be clips around the perimeter that you would need to depress to get the cover off.
