The Washer Door Lock Switch is an OEM part for LG washing machines. This critical safety feature locks the washer door during operation to prevent it from being opened, which ensures safety and proper functioning. The door lock switch also communicates with the washer's control system to indicate that the door is securely closed and the machine can begin its cycle.

Symptoms of a bad Washer Door Lock Switch include:

  • The washing machine refusing to start, despite the door appearing to be closed.
  • The door failing to lock properly, or the lock releasing prematurely during a cycle.
  • Error messages on the washer's display related to door closure issues.

Causes of a bad door lock switch can include mechanical failures such as worn or damaged locking mechanisms, electrical issues like faulty wiring or failed solenoids, or alignment problems that prevent the door from engaging the switch properly.

This OEM LG part is also compatible with Sears/Kenmore models.

Hello Mary. Test and see if there is power coming into and out of the filter assembly 6201EC1006T. If so, test and see if there is power going to the PCB board 6871ER1023R If so, and the board is not sending power out, you will need to replace the PCB board. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. Hope this helps. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html

Ed, Yes, The "DE" fail code indicates a door lock error. EBF49827801 The door switch assembly and wiring is a great place to start, and is the most likely issue, as long as the door is aligned to the front panel and the latch hook on the door is not loose or broken. Thanks and Good Luck.
