Kenneth E September 17, 2012 for Model Number mcbr1910w Replaced defrost timer and defrost heater and defroster fuse and still the timer will not advance. Any thing else I should try need help badly.
1 Answer Hello Kenneth. Based on the information you provided, you will need to look for a wiring issue with the unit. If all the parts are new, there has to be a wiring issue with the unit. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
B.M. August 09, 2012 for Model Number Magic Chef MCBR1010W I purchased a defrost timer (AP4565266) to replace my faulty original OEM timer. The PIN order on the two timers are different. On the original part as you look at the PINS with the numbers facing you it is ordered 2-1-4--3 whereas the replacement part is 2-3-4--1. The double-dash distinguishes the grouping of the first 3x PINS from the fourth pin. I called APP before I installed and they said to follow the PIN order - place the wire that was in PIN 1 into PIN1, PIN 2 into PIN 2, etc. However, when I do this the timer never advances and the compressor never cycles on - even when I manually advance the timer. I put the original defrost timer back in so at least the refrigerator will run until the frost eventually will build back up again. Should I instead place the wires back in their original order, regardless of their PIN number?
1 Answer Hello B.M., I would send the one you have now back and order a 63001353. This timer has the correct connection sequence. This is the way to go since there will be no wiring cutting and splicing. The difference in the defrost times is acceptable as it is not extending but decreasing time between defrost cycles.
