Hello William. The black wire that was included with the kit would only be used if you had a three wire set up and needed a jumper wire. You should connect your wires to the same number you disconnected them from. For example, orange would go to #3, blue to #4, yellow to #1 and brown to #2, hope this helps!

Walter, The "original" defrost timer has been discontinued by the manufacturer. It has been replaced by a "universal" direct replacement part WP4391974 / WP4391974. The replacement part will contain instructions, wiring information to convert and install the defrost timer in your machine. The part is in stock and available at this time. Thanks,

Victor for Model Number defrost timer#AP4565266 (CF2003-56) for magic chef MCBR1010W

Hello. I recently installed my defrost timer but still the freezer won't stop to defrost. I have already been explained that it could be the thermostat or defrost heater, but before checking these parts I want to be sure I have installed the wiring correctly. I plugged it in first the same way the previous one was installed (not original and installed by someone whose expertise I now doubt) and then by color scheme the timer shows. None of them worked. Could it be that I did not plug it n correctly? Victor

Victor, The wiring of the timer should be as follows, terminal 1 should have a white wire attached, terminal 2 should be a pink, the number 3 terminal is yellow and the number 4 terminal is blue. If it is wired this way then the issue would be the thermostat or the heater.

Chuck, Most likely the reason the compressor will not come on would be caused by either the defrost timer or the PTC relay. You can test to see if you are getting power to the relay and if so then the timer is not the issue but would be the PTC relay.
