Kim, the vibration sensor would be located on the top of the main tub about 6" from the front of the tub.

1 Answer

Kelly, Check to make sure that the rotor on the bottom is not loose and make sure that the tub is not loose. If this is good then the issue will most likely be a control board issue.

Hi newbie to appliance repairs so having some trouble. I have a samsung top load washing machine and the control panel works I start the wash and the drum begins to spin, the drain pump starts but then nothing happens, no error codes, no water enters the machine. I checked the inlet valve for continuity and cleaned the screens and checked out and all the hoses to and from seem free from kinks/debris. Under the diagnostic mode I got the error code 8C1 but as I said the code doesnt come up on its own when I try to run a wash. My question is would a faulty mems sensor prevent the washer from filling or is this a separate issue ?

1 Answer

Hello Greydon, the fault code 8C1 refers to the main control board not detecting tub rotation, this can be caused by a problem with the MEMS sensor which is part of the rotor /stator/MEMS assembly DC93-00236C, the wire harness from the control board to the stator/MEMS or a problem in the main control board. Suggest checking the wire harness first before replacing any parts.

Timothy, the error code 8C is going to indicate a failure in the display control if the wire connections are fully secure.

Phillip, An 8e2 error code displayed on the washer: check the connections at the main control board and/or check the wiring harness and harness connections. That error also points to the MEMS sensor having to do with vibration. Make sure the machine is level and the load is large enough to balance. If the sensor tests within specs check the harness for continuity and connectors for damage. The manufacturer says that the wire harness can break internally, causing intermittent continuity.

Peter C. for Model Number WA48J7700AW/A2

I keep getting an error code 8c2, and for some odd reason the machines will jump time also. The screen will show 7 minutes left then all of sudden it will jump to 13 minutes. I also get a UE code, for an unbalanced load. The spin cycle doesn't seem to spin very well when there is a load in the machine, but when empty spins faster. I purchased this washer in 2016. Also like to replace the balance rods since I'm going to have the washer apart. I did a lot of reviews on the problem and seems everyone says it's the vrt sensor or meme sensor, or the wire harness that connects to it. It seems like the plastic that the harness goes under can split the wire harness to cause these problems. Can you help figure this out?

1 Answer

MadWelder, Based on the information and model provided: In the Samsung washer, the 8C error code is displayed when the accelerometer is “silent” or gives incorrect/ weak signals to the control module. It can be tested through the DC92-01624A board. Some indications that there has been an issue with the harness having a broken wire in it.

Scott, the failure would likely be in the door lock assembly DC34-00025E not sensing that the lid is closed. This could be caused by the magnet DC61-03184A in the lid being out of place or by a failed door lock assembly.
