David, To replace the main control board for this unit, you will need to pull the unit out from the wall and disconnect the power. Once the power is disconnected you will then remove the lower cover at the back of the unit. On the right hand side is where the control board should be located. You will need to remove the screws holding it in place and may be necessary to remove the water valve as well. You would then remove the cover over the control board and disconnect wiring and install new board.

Lucy, You will want to test the resistance of the refrigerator thermistor to make sure that it is within range. If the thermistor is not within range then it would need to be replaced. The resistance value of the thermistor at 37.4 degrees should be 11741 ohms, at 39.2 degrees it should be 11271 ohms. With the temp reading 86 degrees on the display then the resistance would show if correct 4218 ohms. You can test the sensor for the Refrigerator compartment by testing on the main control board connector CN30 from Pin 6 to pin 7 with the connector disconnected and check the connector. This will be a blue and brown wire next to each other.

I purchased a samsung refrigerator in 2006. I am having trouble with the refrigerator cooling. Freezer is cold. Set it to super cool and it the super cool light would turn off after an hour still would be warm. Noticed also the temp on the display was reading 34 degrees in the refrig. and the freezer was -2 which was good. The refrigerator definitely did not feel 34 unplugged the refrigerator compartment temp. Went up to 68 which what it felt like. Today I noticed the freezer getting warmer and the upper unit cooling a little. Could this be a main board issue?

1 Answer

Stanley, You will want to check to make sure that the coils in either compartment are not impacted with ice. If so then the issue would either be bad defrost sensors or bad control board.

Hello Angela. Check and see if there is an even frost pattern on the coils in the freezer. If not, you will need to have an HVAC tech repair the sealed system on the unit.

Kenny, If the icemaker is not cycling then the problem may be the temperature inside the unit. Otherwise the control board would be the most likely cause of failure.

My problem started when I noticed the ice maker was not working. Later in the day (or maybe next day) the fridge was not cool, then the freezer wasnt cooling. I was told to unplug it for 24 hrs and then plug back in and see what happened. I did this and all areas seemed to work fine for about a 4 days. Now the freezer is still cold readout is -2 and internal temp is about -8 and the fridge readout is 34 and internal temp is 40. Last night for several hours the internal temp was up tp 50. I was told that it was probably the main control that needed to be replaced. Is this the problem? or the correct part? Any information would be hlepful. Thank you in advance for a response.

Lost, If the unit fills and freezes with but does not dump and refill with a new icemaker in the unit then the control board is not reading the thermistor of the icemaker to allow it to cycle. The control board would need to be replaced.
