Questions & Answers

For Samsung Refrigerator Temperature Sensor (Part Number: OEM12410853)

1 Answer

Anton, if you access the main control and test the sensor at cn30 pin 4 to pin 1, you can either test for 4.165 VDC or remove the connector and test the same pins on the wiring for 49.8kohm resistance. Either one of these are what the sensor should read at -20 degrees Fahrenheit. If the sensor does not register this reading, then you do have a sensor issue [DA32-10104N].

Doug, IN the top left corner you have a damper that lets freezer air in to cool the refrigerator. DA97-08064A This part could be stuck open and allowing too much air in all the time. Also, you need to test the refrigerator temp sensor. These resistances change depending on temperature but at room temp the reading should be 5000.DA32-10105U

Jason, It would be recommended to check for air leaks around the door seals of the unit and make sure that the ice door is closing all the way. If this checks ok then test the thermistors in the unit to make sure that they are good for resistance.

Heather, This issue would most likely be caused by a damper door that is not closing or is broken and would need part number DA97-08064A.

FREEZER WORKED FINE BUT REFRIGERATOR NOT SO MUCH. SO I REPLACED THE ASSY FAN MOTOR SUPPORT WHICH HAD STOPPED WORKING. NEW FAN WORKED BUT DID NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM. IT HAS BEEN 12 HOURS, THE FREEZER SET AT 0 DEGREES STARTED OUT AT 29 AND IS NOW 0 DEGREES... IT IS WORKING AND MAKING ICE. BUT THE REFRIGERATOR SIDE SET AT 37, STARTED OUT AT 59 AND NOW ONLY READS 55 -12 HOURS LATER AND IS STILL WARM. ORIGINALLY BEFORE THE FRIDGE STOPPED GETTING COOL THERE WAS A LOT OF NOISES COMING FROM THE UNIT FOR DAYS BUT I THOUGHT IT WAS FINE UNTIL IT WASN'T GETTING COOL ANYMORE. WHAT ELSE COULD BE THE PROBLEM?

1 Answer

Hello Janet. Make sure the fan in the fresh food section is working properly. Also make sure the coils have an even frost pattern on them. If not, then the sealed system has failed on the unit.

Hello Janet. Unplug the unit and try doing a hard reset by letting it sit for about 30 minutes. Plug it back in and see if it resets. If not, then the main control board DA92-00624D on the may have failed and will need to be replaced on the unit.

Adriana, For this issue you will need to replace the icemaker if the tray has broken. This would be a sensor issue on the icemaker that would have caused this and for the display not being responsive and the bars not working then this will also need replaced.

Ed, You will want to check the door reed switch to make sure that the switch is not faulty as this will be the most likely cause for this issue.

Joe for Model Number RSG257AARS/XAA-0000

I first notice an issue when our ice cream would melt even after power freezing the freezer or lowering the temp to -4 in the freezer. The temp on both sides are lower than what the temp is showing on the displays screen. I manually measured the temp with a thermometer and the freezer only gets up to 28 degrees even though the it says it's -4. The refrigerator only gets up to 42 even though it says it's 34. I first thought it was the compressor and replaced the compressor relay protector (DA34-00004D). The compressor is cycling on/off and running. I then checked both coil motor fans inside the freezer and refrigerator and they are running. I then checked all four of the temperature sensors and they showing 13K ohms of resistance when I place them in ice water. Even though I thought 16K is the correct amount of resistance when the temperature is 32 (F), I'm assuming 13K is correct since all four temperature sensors can't be bad. I did notice that the coils are not icing up all the way, so I'm assuming that's reason why it's not getting cold enough. The compressor/compressor lines have not been compromised, so I'm assuming the Freon levels are fine. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Joe

Joe, For this issue you would want to test the temperature sensors to make sure that they are good. At room temp the resistance should be 5K ohms. If the temp sensor is good then you will want to check the frost pattern of the freezer compartment. If the frost pattern is very little frost then the issue will be a sealed system in which you will need service to diagnose the issue.

Bonnie, If both sections are not cooling then you will want to check to make sure that the compressor on the unit is running. If it is not then the most likely cause for this will be a faulty start device DA96-00174G.
