Questions & Answers

For Samsung Refrigerator Temperature Sensor (Part Number: OEM12410853)

1 Answer

Alice, Depending on what section this temperature sensor is for, it will normally go behind the wall of that compartment. So for example if the refrigerator section is not cooling properly then the sensor would go behind the panel at the back of the refrigerator compartment.

Kenmore/Samsung Dude for Model Number Kenmore Elite 401.41009010

Freezer no longer cools enough. Refrigerator also inadequate at cooling. A couple of service guys have been over and thought the system was still sealed and functioning correctly. They think it is a sensor problem. Sears would never come back out to complete the service. Initial problem was noticed months ago when ice cream became soft, then after a couple of weeks everything began to thaw. Fridge side temp is set at 36 and probably cools to 48 or so.

Hello. This does not sound like a sensor. It sounds more like the sealed system. Check and see if the coils are all frosted over. If not, then the sealed system is bad on the unit.

Danny, Remove the shelves in the unit and there may be a couple of screws in the back panel. Remove the screws and remove the back panel. The sensor will be located on the evaporator assembly.

Artan, The model number listed is not coming up as a valid model in which we would need to properly assist. As far as the issue goes, based on the information it sounds like a faulty main control board sending the readout to the display board.

Michael D. for Model Number Samsung RS2556SH

My Samsung RS2556SH side-by-side refrigerator is having a cooling issue on the refrigerator side (too warm wouldn't go below 60 degrees,) while the freezer works fine. I took the covers off of the inner workings of the fridge and found that the coils were pretty thickly coated in ice. I defrosted most of the ice with a hair dryer and then went to work (12-hour night shift). After coming home I found that the fridge temp had gone down to 47 degrees while I was at work and even though the coils did redevelop frost on them (I think that is normal), they did not redevelop a bunch of ice. That may also be due to my not having reattached the plastic covers that enclose and hide the inner workings/coils of the fridge perhaps allowing the area to breath and make ice more difficult to develop. I also opened the fridge door about three times in a short span after getting home and the temp jumped up to 51 degrees from 47 degrees which is an abnormally high jump in such a short time of three quick door openings. I also checked the fan by depressing the light switch to fool the fridge into thinking that the door was closed and the fan did turn on so this is not the problem. I also did a quick code test by depressing the Quick Freeze & Cool buttons simultaneously and the areas lit were both on the refrigerators 'second eight digit', one bottom right of the 'eight' and one in the upper left which by the Samsung Refrigerator Diagnostic Code Quick Guide indicates two problems. 1) Cool Select Zone sensor error - open or short circuit, connector error. 2) Refrigerator Defrost Sensor error - open or short circuit, connector failure. With this information can you diagnose my problem and tell me what parts (with item #) that I need to order in order to fix my fridge? Thank you.

1 Answer

Michael, You have done a good job of diagnosing the unit. Based on the error codes and the fact that you have the unit disassembled on the refrigerator side, the coolzone sensor is most likely disconnected and the error that you have is with the defrost sensor. The sensor part number is DA32-10109W.

Hello Tony, It sounds like when the line broke, it allowed the freon to escape and leak out. You will need an HVAC tech to charge the system and make sure you have not blocked the line that was repaired.

Audrey, The most likely cause of the refrigerator section evaporator to ice up is a faulty defrost sensor but could also be the heater assembly. You will want to check the heater for continuity and check the sensor resistance to make sure that they are good.

Doug for Model Number Samsung rs267TDRS

I have a Samsung RS267TDRS Fridge. Fridge Side stops cooling. Fan on fridge makes loud noises. Control Panel reads 34 degrees, but fridge temp is higher. Unplug fridge let ice defrost over night. Plug back in and everything works fine until ice forms again. I guessed the Fridge Side Defrost/Temp Sensor is bad. What is the correct part number for the fridge side Defrost/Temp Sensor and where is it located on the fridge? or Do u think there is a different problem? Thanks In Advance.

1 Answer

Hello HA TRAN. It sounds like you may have a defrost problem with the unit. Check and see if there is any frost build up on the back wall of the freezer. If so, you will need to test the defrost heater and the defrost thermostat. They should read closed for continuity when cold. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. I will include a link at the end to assist you how to use the multi-meter if needed. If both parts are good, you will need to replace the defrost timer. Once the problem is repaired, you will need to thaw out the ice on the coils before the unit will operate properly. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html
