Hello Kasime, thank you for contacting Appliance Parts Pros. That is an F5E2 code, this means the lid hasn't locked or it cannot "see " that the lid has locked. Usually, this is due to a failed lock motor/solenoid or lock switch, which is part of the lock assembly [W11307244]. I'd recommend replacing that lid lock assembly.

Hello Tim, thank you for contacting APP, This is an issue with the Capacitor W11158830 / W11158830 or the Motor-Drve W10890624 / W10890624. You may try testing the motor with a multimeter. Unplug the unit, access the motor, and unplug the harness from the motor. Take a resistance reading on the contacts of the motor where the Red wire was with the harness connected to where the Orange or Yellow wire was with the harness connected. This should be about 6 to 12Os resistance. If this is out of range replace the motor. If the motor is reading in range replace the capacitor.

David, We will need the model number to properly research your issue and give you the correct information and part numbers for the machine you are working on. With that said it sounds like the likely issue would be in the splutch (clutch) kit.

Zak for Model Number mvwc565fw2

Hello, I have a Maytag model# mvwc565fw2 that the shift actuator arm keeps popping out of the clutch linkage/ring. Is it best to replace both clutch assembly and actuator with this constant failure? Or is there something else I'm missing that is the culprit for this issue? Should the clutch link/ring move freely when actuator is off? For context its about 3 years old and has done it 4 times in the last 6 months, today right after reinstalling actuator then worked fine

1 Answer

Zak, If the arm of the actuator is bent or the green screws that hold it in are loose this could happen. Otherwise, it sounds like the clutch [splutch assembly] needs to be replaced.

Korey, These parts can be tested with a multimeter. Locate the tech sheet inside the cabinet on the front wall upper left corner and follow the testing procedures.

Brian, the shift actuator W10913953 motor can be tested for resistance and it should measure between 2K to 3.5K Ohms. The arm and the clutch assembly W10721967 would need to be inspected for indications of being damaged.

Big John, the motor W11283592 windings will need to be tested for resistance. There should be a resistance reading between 3.5 to 6 Ohms when testing from terminal 2 to terminal 3, and from terminal 2 to terminal 4. If the motor windings fail, the motor would need to be replaced. If they test good, the capacitor W11395618 would need to be tested for 50uf after discharging the capacitor and setting a meter to capacitance. If the capacitor tests good, the likely cause of failure would be the main control W11116592.

Daniel for Model Number 110. 25132411

My clothes are still soaking wet after the end of a wash cycle. I have run the diagnostic test mode and the error code indicates that there is something wrong with the lid lock mechanism. Twice I have replaced it and will solve the problem for a week and then it goes back to the original problem. I've read it could be a problem with the strike but the lid does lock. The only other trouble shooting solution I have seen is to replace the main control board. Is this correct?

1 Answer

Daniel, Double-check the connections at the board then the next likely issue would be the board.

Hello Adam, this may be caused by a problem in the drive clutch (splutch) W10721967, however if either the shifter or clutch fails again then there is a mechanical problem in the gearcase W11449840.
