This membrane switch in a stainless finish is the touchpad/keypad behind the oven or range control console. It registers your button presses and sends them to the control board to restore reliable input when keys stop responding.

  • Provides the touch-sensitive keypad for selecting bake, broil, temperature, timer, and other functions
  • Ribbon cable carries keypad signals to the electronic control (clock/oven control)
  • Typical symptoms of failure: some or all keys unresponsive, intermittent inputs, unintended beeps, or keypad-related error messages
  • A failed keypad can prevent the appliance from starting or accepting commands

Michael, the video for the main control WP9762810 can be used as a reference for how to access where the membrane switch WP9756559ES connects to the control. Once the ribbon is disconnected from the control, the membrane would peel off of the console panel. The main control can be moved to press on the back of the membrane to make peeling it up easier.

Lockjam, If this is a range then the model number may be down where the storage drawer is. If this is a wall oven you will have to fish the lock open using a rigid wire. Take the wire and get between the frame and the door and slide it across to get the ahold of the hook to release.

Hello Dimitri. 1. Unplug range or disconnect power. 2. Turn off gas supply to range. 3. Remove the two grates from the top of the range. 4. Pull the range forward so you can access the two end cap screws. 5. To remove the electronic oven control (EOC) assembly on slide-in models: a) Pull the knobs off the gas valves. b) Remove the two screws from the sides of the end caps. c) Open the oven door and remove the indicated screws from the bottom of the control panel. d) Pull out on the bottom of the control panel, unclip the top edge from the bracket, and rotate the control panel forward so you can access the components. e) Disconnect the wire connectors from the electronic oven control board at P1 and P2, and the ribbon cable connector at P40. f) Remove the four screws from the electronic oven control housing, and remove the assembly from the control panel. NOTE: The EOC boards and the housing are replaced as an assembly. 6. To remove the electronic oven control (EOC) assembly on freestanding models: a) Open the oven door, and remove the screws from the bottom of the control panel. b) Remove the two cooktop trim screws. c) Slide the cooktop trim back to expose the end cap screw, and remove the screws (1 on each side). d) Perform steps 5d, 5e, and 5f

Ovenless in Miami, In order to replace the membrane switch you will have to remove the control panel. The membrane has a ribbon harness that connects to the clock and you will have to remove the control to access this.
