This membrane switch in a stainless finish is the touchpad/keypad behind the oven or range control console. It registers your button presses and sends them to the control board to restore reliable input when keys stop responding.

  • Provides the touch-sensitive keypad for selecting bake, broil, temperature, timer, and other functions
  • Ribbon cable carries keypad signals to the electronic control (clock/oven control)
  • Typical symptoms of failure: some or all keys unresponsive, intermittent inputs, unintended beeps, or keypad-related error messages

Hello Bill. Yes, you need to pull out the unit. Disconnect the power. Remove the back panel and then the control board from the unit. Then you can replace the membrane WP9756559ES on the unit.

Jack, The error code that you see is actually the manufacturers number for the board. If the control is shutting off after 30 seconds then it would be a bad control board. If the burner shuts off then most likely the issue will be the oven safety valve.

Hello Kate. Yes, WP9756559ES is correct. To replace the membrane switch you will need to peel it off the control panel and before installing the new one you will want to make sure that you clean the control panel with rubbing alcohol to get all of the sticky residue off. When putting the new part on you will want to make sure that it is straight and you get it in place right the first time because if you have to peel it back off it could damage the internal workings of the membrane.

Bill, Yes, it is "glued" on. A little heat from a blow dryer will help loosen the adhesive and make it a bit easier to remove. Then you'll need to remove any left over adhesive rubbing alcohol works pretty well, then you have to be careful attaching the replacement membrane assembly
