The Temperature Switch is an OEM replacement part for Whirlpool front-load washing machines. Located inside the unit, it monitors water temperatures during heating cycles.

Causes of a bad temperature switch can include failure or drift of internal components that monitor heat over extended use. Exposure to fluctuations in water temperatures during wash cycles may also impact switch performance.

Symptoms of a bad temperature switch can be:

  • Inability to heat water to set temperatures
  • Unexpected fluctuations in water temperature during cycles

This OEM Whirlpool part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore front-load washing machines.

Kevin, What you will want to check is to make sure that the pressure hose on the unit and the air dome that the pressure hose is connected to is not clogged. This would be the most likely cause for the unit agitating without filling.

Pamela B for Model Number WTW57ESVW1

Our Whirlpool, Model WTW57ESVW1, starts agitating the clothes before it starts to fill the tub with water. The clothes are never properly washed because by the time the water level is high enough to wash the clothes the machine drains again, taking the unused soap with it. The other exciting symptom of machine mania is that at the end of final spin, the machine squirts more water into the tub, so that the clothes are totally saturated when they should be ready to go into the dryer. Please say you can help us tame our wildly unruly machine. PAM BUNNING

Chad, You're on target, thinking the water temperature switch is at fault. The printed circuit board inside the switch WPW10293048 usually develops a weak circuit, and the washer has several possible fill issues, including no cold fill. replace the switch WPW10293048 and you should be fine. (you have the incorrect part number for the model number you supplied).
