Hello Dawgdays. If you can stop the water from entering the machine by turning off the timer or unplugging the unit, you will need to look for a bad pressure hose or replace the pressure switch. If the only way to shut off the water is at the shut off for the water hoses, you will need to replace the water valve in the unit.

Linda, Yes it is most likely the water temperature switch WPW10248240 with your description it would be the place to start. This particular switch controls the water temperature, the water level, and the timer delay for certain cycles, all through a printed circuit board inside the switch. all your issues would be associated with the switch. You also want to check the wiring harness/connector that attaches to the electronic control WPW10104800 mounted on the back of the timer. Make sure it is pressed and locked in place on the control connector.

Hello Douglas, If your model number is MVWC5ESXW0, the problem can be a bad clutch, brake, temperature switch or the agitation board. If you drop the gearcase, you will be able to tell if the clutch or brake has failed. If they appear to be fine, the problem is most likely in the pressure switch WPW10248240 or agitation delay board WPW10104800.

Hello Sal. That is not the timer, the switch WPW10248240 is bad and will need to be replaced. Unplug the switch and see if it still runs. If not, replace the switch.
