Sal October 10, 2013 for Model Number MVWC6ESWW1 Washer starts agitating hard as soon as it is turned on - without the water filled. When on Normal load, clothes come out wet. Had a repairman come and he told me that a new timer would be needed. Total Cost approx. $300. How can I be sure it is the timer and not the switch. Thank you for your help.
1 Answer Hello Sal. That is not the timer, the switch WPW10248240 is bad and will need to be replaced. Unplug the switch and see if it still runs. If not, replace the switch. Read More...
Lindsey October 09, 2013 for Model Number wtw57esvw1 We have a Whirlpool Washer we purchased in February 2010. I believe June of 2013 the temperature switch went out... we ordered a new one and replaced it. Worked great for about 1-2 months then went out again. We swapped out the part thinking it could be faulty. The new one lasted a week and went out. .. swapped it out again. The most recent switch lasted 3 days. It is doing the same thing.. it will not fill, will not agitate but if you manually turn it to spin it spins fine. Thinking it may be something in the machine I was missing causeing the switch to blow I called a Appliance Repair man to come look at it. He found nothing except for the fact the temperature switch was out. He asked if it had received any power surges, not that I am aware of. I called whirlpool and of course they are of no assistance since the machine is out of its measley 1 year warranty period. I have a family of 7 who generate a huge amount of laundry. This is extremely frustrating and a huge inconvience. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
1 Answer Hello Lindsey. This is caused by raising the lid after starting a cycle. Try replacing the lid switch with the new temp switch and make sure no one raises the lid after a wash cycle has started. Read More...
Fi September 13, 2013 for Model Number MVWC6ESWW1 Washer won't fill. Replaced water inlet valve/solenoids. Zero zip zilch. Will run on other cycles. From what I've read here, looks like I should have gone for a temperature switch instead. Sound good? How do I test the existing switch? TYIA
1 Answer Hello FI. Yes, you need to order and replace the temperature switch WPW10248240. Read More...
James August 18, 2013 for Model Number MVWC6ESWW1 The washer seems as though the cycles aren't aligned with the tabs on the dial. For example, when put at the beginning of the heavy duty cycle it begins agitating as if there is water already in the washer. Also, during the spin cycle the clothes don't spin dry. Everything seems to work mechanically but not correctly. Any help is appreciated as this washer has not worked correctly from very close to the time of purchase.
1 Answer James, access the console components, check the wiring connections at water temperature switch WPW10248240 and the control WPW10104800 on the back of the timer. if there's no corrosion on the terminals, and all the connections are tight, replace the water temperature switch. Read More...
Cliff August 01, 2013 for Model Number Whirlpool The cycle will start--water fills to correct level, machine agitates--when the machine should empty and rinse, you can hear the settings knob click but the cycle will not advance any further and will not allow you to manually push the knob in and select the next stage.
1 Answer Hello Cliff. You will need to check the lid switch and see if it is bad and needs to be replaced in the unit. Read More...

Billy Extra Rinse April 25, 2013 for Model Number mvwc6esww1 I have a maytag centennial mvwc6esww1 top loading washer. Last weekend it seems like the cycles don't line up with the knob. When I start the washer, instead of water first starting to fill and agitating shortly thereafter, they both occur upon start. Then after the spin cycle, the washer adds some water thus the laundry is soaking wet when the cycle is done. Seems like the water added in the end should have been at the beginning of the cycle...make sense?
1 Answer Billy, You will want to test your pressure switch to make sure that it is good. If the pressure switch checks ok then you will need to replace the timer. Read More...
Robin April 24, 2013 for Model Number MVWC6ESWW1 Washer won't fill with water using any temperature during Wash/Rinse Cycle. Also, it Spins at the beginning of the Rinse Cycle but won't Fill. Already cleared pressure tube and I don't have power going to the Inlet Valve. Therefore, how do I check AC Voltage on the Wire Harness that connects to the Auto Load Sensor Switch (include part number) to see if I have power coming from the Timer?
1 Answer Hello Robin. Based on the information you provided, you will need to order and replace the temperature switch WPW10248240 on the unit. Read More...
Linda April 02, 2013 for Model Number WTW57ESVW1 I have a whirlpool load sensing washing machine that is only 2 years old and is now overfilling. It is like it no longer senses the weight of the load and just fills the basket to the point of overflow. Water all over the Kitchen. on the Quick wash cycle it sometimes does not overfill. I believe the part I need to replace is the Water level & temp controller part #W10248240. I wish to know if that is the correct part for the problem or if not, what I need to do to repair my washer.
1 Answer Linda, You will want to check the pressure hose to make sure that it is not clogged, kinked, damage or come loose. Also check the air dome to make sure that it is not clogged. If this checks ok then you would want to replace the pressure switch WPW10248240. Read More...
