For Whirlpool Refrigerator Ice Bin Upper Crusher Assembly (Part Number: OEM18018519)

Elise, The WP2198573 Ice Bin is the least likely issue, the WPW10130497 Crusher Bin is more likely. It has a locking mechanism with a release button on the right side of the crusher bin " Hold the base of the storage bin with both hands and press the release button to lift the storage bin up and out." If you consistently use crushed ice, there is a possibility of ice forming between the door and the base of the ice bin, which can cause the latch assembly to "stick" and keep the bin from releasing from the door.

Charlotte B for Model Number ED5JHAXTQ01

My ice is freezing at the bottom of the bin in the inside of the freezer door. I have replaced the kit on the outside of the freezer door where it dispensing the ice with the updated insulation, heater, and closing mechanism but that did no correct the problem. Now I want to replace the ice bin. I know I broke the button release catch one of the first time it froze up when trying to get it off and melted some of the plastic when I was defrosting the ice. Hoping this will solve the problem. If not I don't think I want to go into the freezer door itself. So I will just have to insulate the air from the dispensing chute with something and have an ice bucket instead of ice dispensed through the door. Please give me the correct part number for the ice bin in the door for my model number. Thank you.

Karen, If the ice bin was difficult getting out it by be an issue of the shaft sliding up. Using the blunt end of a screwdriver or a hammer, tap down on the shaft. Just go a little time and try to put the bin on until it sits flush on the door.
