Rocky, Check and make sure the belt isn't broken or off the motor pulley, and belt switch is being properly activated by the idler arm, and the switch and wires aren't damaged, broken, etc. Then check the thermal fuse on the blower housing for a "closed" circuit. If there is an issue with either the thermal fuse or belt switch, the control will program and the lights will illuminate, but the dryer won't start or run.

Randomly my dryer has power to light up the interior but the control panel will not light up or start the dryer. I have opened it up and cleaned all the electrical connectors then it starts working again for a while. A couple of times I could get it to go into diagnostic mode before opening it up, and that started it back up. If not, taking it apart and cleaning connections seems to get it back up for a while. When I was not home it quit again and my wife tried to get it into diagnostic mode with no luck. She read on line that opening and closing the door 6 times in 12 seconds will reset it. Sounded crazy to me but it worked for her. Again today it would not come on with either method until I took it apart and cleaned the connections then applied dielectric grease. Started working again. Is the panel bad?

Mike, First check and make sure the connections at the terminal block, on the back of the dryer are good and tight. Check/replace the door switch, and check the wiring. If the problem persists, then replace the control board WP8546219 .

Hello Jerry, You should pull the units kickpanel and pull the tech sheet. This will give specific instruction on the units' diagnostic test mode. The fault codes indicated will point you in the direction of the issue. If the unit will not go into the diagnostic test mode, the control will require replacement.

Matt for Model Number Kenmore Dryer 110.95862400

My front panel will randomly start beeping and cycling through the "end of cycle" beep LEDs. Sometimes it'll end up with some random number in the timer LED. I ordered the control board yesterday and received it today. The board I ordered is AP3775548. I swapped out the board and the dryer is doing the same thing with the new control board installed. Is it possible that the front panel needs to be replaced? If so, can I return the control board and apply the refund towards the front panel if needed?

1 Answer

Hello Mike. It sounds like the control board is bad on the unit and will need to be replaced.

Skip Race, The control board 280086 would be the cause of the unit not operating during the normal cycle but operating during the test mode.
