Questions & Answers

For Whirlpool Refrigerator Control Board (Part Number: OEM18854946)

Gaines, it would be recommended that the freezer temperature be verified as reaching 0°F with a thermometer. If it does not reach proper temperature, the ice maker will not harvest. To test the voltage to the ice maker, the black wire with white stripe at connection P3 pin 3 of the control can be tested for 120VAC. If voltage is present, the main control is good and the voltage directly at the ice maker would need to be tested with the door switch taped shut, and the ice bin sensors having clear line of sight to each other.

George for Model Number GSS26C4XXF03

Hi, Whirlpool GSS26C4XXF03 (Gold Series Side by Side with IceMaker. Both compressor and condenser fan will only run for a few seconds if one taps on the main control board in the area of the relay and capacitor - on occasion, both will run for hours, but then recycle and not run. When powered up initially, the relays can be heard clicking (not the over voltage on the compressor) until the relay for the fan and compressor click, then the fan spins once or twice and then stops. Tried re-soldering those capacitor pins, but will still only power momentarily when tapping hard on the relay. Thoughts?

Don, if the water filter 9081 has been verified as being good, the wires at the door hinge would need to be inspected for any broken wires. If there is not a broken wire, the most likely cause of failure would be the main control W11088499.

Jorge, The water valve is what supplies the water but with the valve having been discontinued then this would likely be an icemaker issue.

George, this would be caused by a filter not seating properly, a broken filter EDR1RXD1, or a cracked filter housing WPW10238123. Inspecting the filter for any cracks or improper seating can help identify the specific failure.

Christopher Z, Based on the information provided Check for power to the condensor fan and compressor on the red and white wires. Check for the power out of the board at P1-4 and P1-2 if none check the thermistors if bad they would need to be changed, if good it would be the board.

Donald for Model Number GSF26C4EXT02

Hi, ice dispenser through the freezer door stopped working. I changed out the auger motor and it worked for 6 months then stopped working again, and I bought another one and installed it. That one did not work at all. The door shut is working fine. I swapped the water dispenser pad with the ice dispenser pad and still no ice dispensing. The water dispenses fine and the ice is being made fine--just no dispense through the door... Help! Thanks, don

Donald, You will want to test to see if there is power getting to the auger motor. If there is not then check for a wiring issue at the door hinge. Also, check for power from the control board to the auger motor. This will likely be a control issue if there is no power to the auger motor.

PG, This unit has an LED driver board that would need to be checked. There is only one connection and you will need to test the pins for voltage in and out. Any readings other than those listed and this control would need to be replaced. W11038857

Linda, you will want to check to see if the door chute motor will open up when the dispenser paddle is engaged. If the door chute does not open up, then the issue would be with the display assembly WPW10372206. If the door chute does open up, then you will want to check the main control at connection P13. At connection P13 you will want to test the blue wire (with the red probe of a meter) and the gray wire (with the black probe of a meter) together for 140VDC when the dispenser switch is engaged. If there is not 140VDC, then the main control W11088499 has failed. If there is 140VDC, then you will want to inspect the wiring harness and connectors going from the control to the door for any signs of a break or corrosion.
