Dave October 18, 2018 for Model Number WFW8500SR0 Door is locked and will not open. The display shows F28. The machine will not run and we cannot get the door open to remove the clothes. Help
1 Answer Dave, " Manually Unlocking the Door Lock System 1. Unplug washer or disconnect power. 2. Remove the lower kick panel. 3. Reach up along the inside of the front and locate the bottom of the door switch/lock unit. 4. Located on the bottom of the door switch/lock unit is a tear-drop shaped tab. 5. Gently pull the tab down about a ¼" or until a click is heard. 6. The door may be opened." The F28 error cod indicates a communication failure between the CCU(main control board) and the MCU(motor control board) in the bottom of the cabinet. You'll need to remove the top panel and check the connections at the CCU and check the wire harness and connections between the CCU and the MCU. While you have the lower access panel off, if the tech data sheet is there, you can run the diagnostics test and error codes, it may assist you in the repair and diagnostics and give you an idea of what or where the problem is. Jim Cochran May 29, 2018 for Model Number WFW8400TW00 washer stops mid-cycle with F28 code. when I run diagnostics I get F1 code. is the problem the CCU?
1 Answer Jim, With having both of these error codes then it will most likely be caused by a faulty central control unit part number WPW10525357. Read More...
Itsme2 November 16, 2016 for Model Number WFW8400TW03 I have a Whirlpool Duet WFW8400TW03. The problem, is with the spin cycle no matter what speed I have selected it will only spin slow (clothes are still too wet to put into dryer) it acts like it's trying rebalance itself (does not matter if it's one sweatshirt or 5 sweatshirts) It does show a "F 26" code. I have tested the door switch at the switch & at CCU. Everything is normal EXECPT 19 ohm on the lock Solenoid. The pressure switch is showing 0 ohm between pins 4 & 6 (empty) while this slow spin condition is happening. The motor drive shows 6 ohm between pins 1 & 2, pins 2 & 3, pins 1 & 3. The RPM Sensor shows 112 ohm when not spinning (not sure what is spec) I have swapped out the CCU & Motor Control from an identical model (friends washer) with no change. I'm at a loss for what else to try.
1 Answer Itsme2, The solenoid reading at the maincontrol board DS2 connection pin 1 to 3 should have a resistance reading of 320 ohms and if not then the door lock is faulty and would need to be replaced. Read More...
Jim November 17, 2014 for Model Number wfw8500sr01 I asked the other day but didn't put my model number wfw8500sr01 Whirlpool Duet Washer. All of my spin speeds seem to be the same. SLOW. Medium looks to be a little faster than slow, but fast is not as fast as medium. What do you think?
1 Answer Hello Jim. If the unit is draining good and all things are good on the unit, then either the MCU or the motor is bad on the unit. You can test the motor and if it is good, replace the MCU WPW10163007. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Corine S. January 02, 2013 for Model Number WFW8400TB00 Is this the same as the electronic control assembly that the owners manual refers to? The codes that have come up all have this in common.
