This Icemaker Assembly is an OEM replacement for Whirlpool refrigerators. It is responsible for producing ice cubes, providing you with a convenient and steady supply of ice. Fits models that have the icebucket in the door. The bottom mounting bracket on the old icemaker must be reused.

Hello Marty, This can be a set of contacts stuck in the icemaker assembly or a bad water valve. If you pull the unit out and turn the water on, then unplug the refrigerator, if the water stops replace the icemaker 4317943. If it continues to run, replace the water valve W10408179.

Hello Thomas, This is most commonly caused by sticky linkages in the dispense area. This is caused by ice being dispensed into drinks such as soda, sweet tea, Kool-Aid, etc. There is always a danger of this sticky residue getting into the control board which will cause electronic failures. In your case, you might be able to disassemble and clean the linkage parts with rubbing alcohol to restore proper operation. If it has gotten into the relay on the board, the board WP2303843 will have to be replaced.

Charles, You will want to pull the icemaker out and check the mold of the icemaker for deterioration of the coating. If there is deterioration then you will want to replace the icemaker assembly D7824706Q.
