Kris January 07, 2017 for Model Number Maytag Neptune Front loading Washer A few days ago when I tried to do a load the door locked, the water ran in, the machine would click like it was going to spin but the basket would not spin and the door would not unlock. I tried several times to get the load to run. I had to pull the emergency release to get the door to open. Sometimes when I tried to run the load the start button would only flash like it was paused and would not start. I tried unplugging the machine to reset the control panel. It would completely run through the cycle minus the basket rotation. I replaced the door latch assembly thinking as one other time a sensor was bad and would not signal the machine that the door was locked even though it was and that was how it was fixed then. This fixed the problem momentarily as the water ran in, the cycle started and the basket rotated until it switched directions then the basket would not rotate again. All the buttons on the control panel seem to function but the last couple times I tried to get it to run a few other weird things happened on the control panel. At about the same time that I discovered the machine was not functioning we had a small sewer backup (mostly gray water) near the machine. There was never more than an inch or so of water in the area of where the machine is located. I don't really believe these are related but wanted to mention it in case they were. I'm thinking the control panel needs to be replaced not the door latch assembly. I had to have the control panel replaced a couple of times when the machine was first new and under the original warranty. The last time was probably about 12 years ago. This is a 15 year old machine.

1 Answer Hello Richard. You will need to check all the balance switches and the lock assembly on the unit. Also, make sure the control board is good on the unit. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...

Snr March 16, 2014 for Model Number MAH5500BWW MAH5500BWW Ser # A5957348CT Unable to change settings, buttons unresponsive. Have unplugged, waited, plugged in and have same issues several times. I suspect a console or control board, am I correct? Anything else need to be changed/updated? We took delivery of the washer January 2004.
1 Answer SNR, You are correct, you will need to start by replacing the console / key pad assembly 22003238 . There should be no need to change or update any other components, as long as you're careful and remove power to the washer, and be careful with the key pad ribbon when you attach it to the printed circuit control board connector.
