Joe April 19, 2012 for Model Number mdg6800aww Do I need to have special tools to change the console of my Maytag Neptune dryer? Do you have a video/ step by step guide on how to change it? Thanks.
1 Answer Hi Joe. Lay a towel on the top of the dryer. To protect the console part # 33002896. Ground your hands out on the bare metal a few times to remove all body static. Then use a 1/4" nut driver or a T-20 size (or T-15 size) screwdriver tip to remove the console back assy. Mark the wires before disconnecting them and use a cell phone to take a picture to insure the correct rewiring the control panel. Use the supplied wiring diagram/tech. sheet. Look inside the inner back console corners to remove mount screws there if needed. Use your hand on the front left side and push the entire console to the right approx. 3/4" and lift up. Then remove the wire connectors. Then place the console face down on the top of the unit. Place the new console by the old one and transfer the inner control assy. onto the new console. Reverse installation for assy. Thank You. Read More...
Tonia August 24, 2011 for Model Number MDE6800AYW My MDE6800AYW electric dryer has been plagued by the random chirping and control panel intermittently not responding. Initial research indicated it could be the control board. So, we replaced the board. That worked for about a week. Now we're back to square one. Some reports indicate that in lieu of the board, it could be the console. Before we drop another $150 on repairing the thing, we'd appreciate any advice or guidance.
1 Answer Hello Tonia. Based on the information you provided, it sounds like the control panel 33002896 is bad and will need to be replaced. Check and make sure the cable is seated properly. If so, replace the control panel. Hope this helps. Read More...
