For Whirlpool Electronic Control Board (Part Number: OEM18059709)

Jerry T. for Model Number WFE710H0AS0

My range has been recently giving me problems with keeping its oven temp. It says it heats up to 400, but then it shuts off and lowers the temperature to between 100-180 and stays there. It still shows 400 unless I restart the pre-heat cycle. When restarted it shows the lower temp, but does not turn back on to reach the 400 mark. I originally had a different issue in that the broiler stayed on constantly during the bake cycle. I know that requires a control board replacement, but as I could not afford it then, I just unplugged the broiler element and continued using the stove. I saw another person had the same temp issue on the site, but hers was a gas stove and you claimed the ignition was the issue. Since mine is electric, what may be the cause?

1 Answer

Jerry, It would be recommended to test the oven sensor for a resistance of 1090 ohms and if the resistance checks ok then the issue will be the control board that is faulty.

Chuck, You will want to check the ribbon harness between the touchpad and the control board to make sure that it is seated properly and if this checks ok then the issue will be a faulty touchpad. The part number for the touchpad is W10347930.

Gary, This will be a issue with the relay on the control board sticking causing the broil element to stay on.

I recently asked a question reguarding my oven heating up past the desired setting . it corrected itself for a while but now is not working properly again. I changed the heat probe and still the same problem. I beleive this is caused by a control board issue. I was told this was a relay in the board sticking. Is there a fix for this without buying a new control board? is this relay a part of the board or is it a seperate piece and if so do you have a part number? I don't want pay the 400 for the new board. what a shame as this stove is only a couple years old with out waranty left. To say the least I am not impressed with this and even if I wanted to order this part its apparently not available. i am afraid this stove may become landfill.

1 Answer

Kent, Unfortunately the relay is actually part of the control board. The only alternative to purchasing a new board would be to try to contact a company that can rebuild the board.

Kent for Model Number YWFE7I0H0BB0

Our oven is acting up it sounded like a heat probe issue. it keeps heating up past the dial setting. Its done this a couple times and seemed to correct itself until the other day. I replaced the heat probe and it didn't fix the problem. I guess the only other thing it could be is the Oven main control board which is up around the $400 mark. any other suggestions as I don't want to spend anymore if this isn't the problem. I have already paid for a probe which was around a $100 the stove is a little over 2 yrs old.

1 Answer

Kent, The main control board would be the issue with the unit. A relay on the board is sticking causing the higher temps.
