Kit January 01, 2021 In testing my current with a 9V battery, I see a voltage drop of over 6V (the meter reads ~2.9V). A "normal" diode seems to have a voltage drop of about 3V. Does the amount of voltage drop affect the function? Might this cause a microwave to not heat?
1 Answer Kit, The amount of voltage drop will not determine if the diode is bad. If the diode has continuity then it is good. Read More...
Kristopher September 01, 2020 for Model Number MMV5208WS1 Hello, when I turn on my microwave it makes a extremely loud pop but continues to run. I checked the diode and it is no good. Is the diode the only thing I need to check? Thanks, Kristopher
1 Answer Kristopher, Yes, if the unit is not heating and there was a pop you will want to test the diode as being the issue. Read More...
Ed December 16, 2019 for Model Number WMH31017HZ Do you know the part number for the diode for this Whirlpool microwave? Thanks
Al May 09, 2019 for Model Number Whirlpool Microwave GH5184XPB4 Where is the diode on my whirlpool microwave model GH5184XPB4. I removed the casing but don't see the capacitor or the old diode.
1 Answer Al, your model does not use a transformer, capacitor, or diode. Instead it uses an inverter control W10217710 to send voltage to the magnetron. Read More...
Aj March 25, 2018 for Model Number wmh32l19as-0 My unit trips the breaker. Checked capacitor, ok nothing looks grounded. Checked the diode and ohms open. could this be my problem?
1 Answer AJ, The diode will show open one way and closed the other way. For this issue you will want to check the door switches on this issue. Read More...
Gil March 25, 2018 for Model Number WMH76718AS0 Where is the DIODE located for a microwave Mod—WMH76718AS-0?. Besides unplugging the unit, what is meant by “discharging the unit?” How would I replace the diode? Thanks.
1 Answer Gil, The diode will be located on the inside of the unit behind where the control panel will be. What is meant by discharging unit would mean to discharge the capacitor of the unit. Read More...
Ken July 25, 2017 for Model Number wmh1163xvq-1 my micro will not heat...how can I be sure its the diode?
1 Answer Hello Ken! In order to test the diode you'll need to have a multi reader that has a diode setting. More than likely you'll have to hook up a 9v battery in series with the diode in order to get a good reading through the diode. Hope this helps! Read More...
Hanna July 06, 2017 for Model Number KHMS155LSS4 Hi, the microwave oven is not heating. I got the part which is the diode # WPW10492276 . Where is the diode located in this model and how i can get there. Thank you.
1 Answer Hanna, In order to access the diode you will need to pull the unit down from installation and take the outer cabinet off. You will see a capacitor which the diode will be attached to the capacitor. Make sure that you discharge the capacitor before changing the diode. Read More...
Rob G July 02, 2017 for Model Number Kitchenaid Kems379bss00 Had F1E5 MW inverter error code. Replaced control board, inverter and magnetron. Error code message resolved. Unit still does not heat. Where is the power diode located, connection points identification and is there an image of diode available?
1 Answer Rob, The diode for this unit will be part number W11817793 and is a picture of it on the webstie. The diode connects to the capacitor and then to screws to the metal on the unit . Read More...
Tim Gray June 01, 2017 for Model Number WMH1162XVQ3 my microwave is arcing from my diode wire to metal frame?
1 Answer Tim, replace the diode, make sure when you attach the eyelet end to the cabinet frame, sand the area around the screw, and make sure everything is good and tight as possible. Also check and make sure there are no bare metal spots or arc marks on the cabinet frame or area, if there are make sure you touch up the areas with T/U paint. You also want to Carefully test or replace the capacitor. Read More...
