Whirlpool W10217710 Microwave Inverter Board OEM Part

Opened case and located burned component by visual inspection and tracing smell. Ordered a new inverter board with two-day delivery. It was very difficult to remove the old board install the new board. Function restored.

I found an online service manual for a similar model and followed it. Although the 1100W inverter board looks like it should slide right out the side (once you've removed the cover), you must attack it from the front, removing the control panel, cooling fan, and the plastic divider that the smaller 40W inverter is mounted on. It took a couple hours and wasn't too difficult once I found the service manual.

Replaced the inverter - not an easy fix as it was all the way in back - had to remove most electronics and a couple of parts frames to get to the board - just take pictures of all connections and grounds you disconnect and doublecheck it on reassembly

We replaced the inverter with a new one!
