Eric June 20, 2011 for Model Number Whirlpool Duet Sport Dryer WED8300SW0 My dryer is no longer producing heat. It's about 4 years old. Taking the vent off the back, I do not feel heat either. Diagnostic mode shows F-28 indicating moisture sensor is "open". I cleaned the bars with rubbing alcohol as well as the contacts. No help. Is the next step replacing the moisture sensor bars? Thanks
1 Answer Hello Eric. Check and make sure you have 240 volts coming to the dryer. Check and make sure the unit is not set to Air Fluff. Also check the heater WP8544771 and thermal fuses 279973 and see if they are good. You can test these with a multi-meter MA-DM1. They should read closed for continuity. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. Hope this helps. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Don May 15, 2011 for Model Number gew9200ll1 When the dryer is done, our clothes are never dry. Could the moisture sensor bar be the problem? The dryer does heat up.
1 Answer Hello Don. It sounds like the venting system is clogged or kinked. You will need to check the vent and clean it out. Be sure and clean the vent pipe and the dryer air duct assembly. If the air flow is not good, the unit will retain moist air causing the clothes not to dry. Try running the unit with the vent unhooked from the back of the dryer and see if the dryer works properly.
