This OEM Replacement Part is a bake element designed for Whirlpool electric ovens. It measures approximately 19 1/4 inches wide and 15 1/2 inches deep. The element extends about 3 inches past the bracket to the terminals. The element, positioned at the bottom of the oven cavity, supplies heat for baking. It features male spade connectors with push-on wire terminals. If your oven experiences uneven heating, lack of heat, or minimal heat during baking, replacing this part may be necessary.

Ensure the range is unplugged or the house circuit breaker for the range is shut off before installation. The element provides 2100 watts on 208 volts and 2800 watts on 240 volts. Removal involves unscrewing Phillips screws above the element brackets and detaching the wire harness without losing wires. Inspecting the wire terminals for any signs of arcing or burning during removal is recommended.

Questions & Answers

For Whirlpool Oven Bake Element (Part Number: OEM18032481)

Hello Diana, First check the breaker by flipping it off and back on since half of the breaker can trip and only supply the unit with 120Vac instead of the required 240Vac. If this is not the issue and it has been established that 240Vac is getting to the unit, there are only three components in the circuit. The element, the high limit thermostat, and the control board. This can be pinpointed by turning off the power to the unit, pull the bake element and remove one wire from it. If the power is now turned back on and a test meter on about the 200Vac scale is used, there should be 120Vac on the wire and on the element terminal the wire was removed from. If the element side has no voltage on it, test the opposite side of the element to ground. If there is 120Vac there, the element WP74003019 is the issue. If not, either the high limit 7403P160-60, (no longer available from the manufacturer), the control 7601P224-60, (also no longer available), or the associated wiring is the source of the issue.

Ben for Model Number RF396PXYN

Hello, My bake element broke, I bought the correct replacement and installed it correctly. When I turned the power back on and go to the stove, nothing turns on. No clock, No stove top burner nor the oven. When I turn on one of the stove top burners, It reads PF for power failure and does not heat up. Only when I have the stove top burner on can I attempt to turn on the oven. It does read bake and I hear the clicking but it won't heat up. Then when I turned off the stove top burner, everything goes off and it's dead. Is my control panel fried? If so, please tell me the replacement part. Much appreciated.

Hello Ben, I would go to the terminal block WP8203546 where the power cord connects to the range and look for a poor electrical connection. Check it for 240Vac from the two outside terminals. If no poor connections are located, unplug the unit and look on the prongs of the plug for burned spots. If you locate any, the wall outlet is loose and will need to be replaced. If the cord prongs are discolored and the insulative material around the base of the prongs is dis-figured, (look like it has been melted), the cord will also need to be replaced. If no issues are located, try another breaker in the breaker box before proceeding to unit dis-assembly or part replacement.

Hello Tom. Make sure the voltage to the unit is good. If so, the control board 12001607 is bad. The control board has been permanently discontinued by the manufacturer and we don't know of any source or replacement for the part.
