Manufacturer Part Number: WP74003019

This OEM Replacement Part is a bake element designed for Whirlpool electric ovens. It measures approximately 19 1/4 inches wide and 15 1/2 inches deep. The element extends about 3 inches past the bracket to the terminals. The element, positioned at the bottom of the oven cavity, supplies heat for baking. It features male spade connectors with push-on wire terminals. If your oven experiences uneven heating, lack of heat, or minimal heat during baking, replacing this part may be necessary.

Ensure the range is unplugged or the house circuit breaker for the range is shut off before installation. The element provides 2100 watts on 208 volts and 2800 watts on 240 volts. Removal involves unscrewing Phillips screws above the element brackets and detaching the wire harness without losing wires. Inspecting the wire terminals for any signs of arcing or burning during removal is recommended.

Cheryl, One of the biggest factors for the element burning out would be something spilling on the element and not being cleaned off. You will want to make sure that any spill overs are cleaned up regularly to help prolong the life of the element.

John, You will want to access the control panel and do a voltage check on the upper oven circuit. If you test between L1 and upper oven bake with the unit set to bake you should have 240vac. If there is not 240 vac present then the control is faulty and would need to be replaced.

Dave for Model Number Maytag CHE9800bcm

I had the baking element ( 74003019 ) burn out. The local applicance store sold me one which has the same connectors although the metal flanges which screw into the back of the oven where the connectors go into the back do not cover the opening totally. I plugged in the element however it does not heat up. Is there another fuse which could have blown that can be replaced? Could the element type not work because of a compatibility problem? Note: I did incurr a arc originally when pulling out the old element. Did not have the unit unplugged at first. Unplugged and proceeded with removing the old baking element.

Hello Dave, You will want to check your relay board to make sure that you are getting power from the relay board to the element. You should have 240 vac from the relay board Bake to L1. This is with unit on bake. If you do not have 240 vac then you would need to replace relay board WP74001870.
