The Oven Bake Element is an OEM replacement part for Whirlpool ovens. Located at the bottom of the oven cavity, it is responsible for providing the consistent heat necessary for baking and roasting. This element ensures even cooking by heating up uniformly and maintaining the set temperature throughout the cooking process.

Over time, the bake element can wear out or become damaged due to repeated exposure to high temperatures, spills, or power surges. Normal wear and tear, as well as accidental impacts during oven cleaning or rack adjustments, can also lead to the element malfunctioning.

Symptoms of a bad oven bake element include:

  • The oven not heating up or reaching the set temperature
  • Uneven baking or longer cooking times
  • Visible signs of damage such as burns, blisters, or breaks in the element
  • Sparking or unusual noises when the oven is in use
  • The element not glowing red-hot during operation

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

Please Note. Due to a manufacturer change element may appear physically different from the original.

Hi Roger. You will need to ohm out the bake element and see if has 18-28 ohms, and is not shorted. If it is OK, then see if the terminal block screws are loose and you are not getting a complete 240 vac to the rest of the unit. You need solid 240 vac plus 120 vac from black L-1 wire to neutral white middle wire. The same for the red wire L-2 to neutral. I would suspect the bake relay on the clock control is defective. Un plug one wire off the element and hook up one of the meter leads to it. Make sure your meter is set for ^ 240 vac and command the bake to work. If you do not get 240 vac to the element , figure out which side of the circuit is defective. The unit has a wiring diagram supplied with it behind the panel on the back in a packet. The element is part # WP77001094. The clock control is part # Y0309441 is discontinued. Thank You.

Jim, Yes, a faulty bake element could make it seem like the oven is not working. The easiest way to confirm you have a bad element is with a multimeter. Turn the power off, remove the screws from the mounting plate in the back wall, slide the element and wires out far enough to attach the meter leads to the element terminals, turn the power on and make a bake selection, if you have 240 VAC across the element, and no heat, you have a bad element. If no voltage is present, you'll need to start looking for a broken wire, open fuse or bad control. Good Luck and Thanks

Hi Kathy. No they are not the same. Remove power. Remove door. Remove racks. Remove bake element mount screws. Pull unit out (if possible) and remove back. Remove element by pulling fwd and remove wire's. Replace element. Replace screws. Access the back area and repack the inner cavity insulation around the bake element probes so the heat does not escape the back and burn wires. Reassemble in reverse. Thank You.

Hello Cheri! The bake element when it burns out typically bursts a flame. You should only need to replace the element itself. Your part number is WP77001094. Thanks.
