The Bake Element is an OEM part for Whirlpool ovens, designed to provide consistent and even heating necessary for baking. Located at the bottom of the oven cavity, this element heats up when electricity is applied, radiating heat throughout the oven to bake food evenly.

The most common cause of bake element failure is wear and tear from regular use. Over time, the element can burn out or become damaged, affecting its ability to heat properly.

Symptoms of a failing Bake Element include:

  • The oven not heating up properly or taking longer than usual to reach the desired temperature.
  • Uneven baking results, with some areas of food undercooked or overcooked.
  • No visible glow from the bake element when the oven is turned on, indicating it isn't heating.
  • Physical signs of wear or damage on the element, such as blistering, cracks, or breaks.

This OEM Whirlpool part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper and some Kenmore models.

Frustrated Diyer for Model Number KEBS107SSS04

My model KEBS107SSS04 oven is a 30" single Wall Oven with convection. The oven heating element does not come out as shown in the repair video. The oven heating element is behind insulation that wraps from the over the top to under the bottom of the back of the oven and wraps over the oven heating element. The oven heating element does not pull freely out of the back of the oven. It is unclear how to detach and remove the oven heating element from the rear as it is attached elsewhere. It doesn't appear that the oven pan that sits below the oven heating element can be removed from the rear of the oven. Any advice on how to remove the heating element will be much appreciated.

Frustrated DIYer, the manufacturer's information shows that with the back panel removed, the process would be as follows: 1. Disconnect the two red wires from the hidden bake element terminals. 2. Remove the four screws from the hidden bake element cover. 3. Bend the hidden bake element cover flaps down as far as possible. 4. Using a single-edge razor blade, cut the insulation blanket along the bracket edge of the hidden bake element. Spread the blanket apart so you can access the bracket screws. 5. Remove the four screws from the hidden bake element bracket. 6. Pull the hidden bake element out and remove it from the bottom of the oven. (When you remove the hidden bake element, press down on the front edge of the panel that is below the element so that it does not interfere with the removal.) 7. Remove the two bracket screws from the hidden bake element and remove the bracket from the element.

Larry, Remove your racks and use a flashlight. Check where the bake element goes into the back wall. There are two screws to remove and gently pull the element out. You might have to lift up the front a little. Do not let the wires come off the element and fall back into the opening or you will have to pull it out.

Hello Michael, You should first verify there is 240Vac to the oven. If not, check for connection issues in the junction box where the power is connected to the home wiring. You will need to pull the unit so the main top can be removed for troubleshooting once voltage to the unit is verified. The thermal fuse WP8304452 will need to be tested for continuity. If open, this is the problem. If not, the bake element can be tested from the relay board. Turn the power off to the oven and test from T3-3 to T1-1. This tests directly through the bake element. You should get a reading of 28.8O ±10%. If this is the reading you get, the issue will most likely be a bad relay board WPW10119143.
