The Dryer Lint Filter is an OEM part for Whirlpool dryers. This filter is designed to capture lint and debris from the clothes during the drying cycle, preventing it from clogging the dryer vent and ensuring efficient airflow. Proper maintenance of the lint filter helps improve the dryer's performance and reduces the risk of fire hazards caused by lint buildup.

Over time, the lint filter can become damaged, torn, or clogged with excessive lint and debris. Common causes of a bad lint filter include wear and tear from regular use, damage from improper cleaning, or excessive lint buildup that is difficult to remove.

Symptoms of a bad dryer lint filter include:

  • Visible tears or holes in the filter
  • Lint not being captured effectively, leading to clogged vents
  • The dryer taking longer to dry clothes due to restricted airflow
  • The filter not fitting securely in its slot

This OEM part is also compatible with some Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and Kenmore models.

Questions & Answers

For Whirlpool Dryer Lint Filter (Part Number: OEM18026343)

1 Answer

Bob, Yes, the seal was eliminated from production, and is no longer available. It wasn't designed to "seal" or collect excess lint from the duct work, and there has always been lint passing through the system and out the exhaust duct work. Leave it "as is" and you'll still be fine, just make sure you keep the lint filter clean and there are no holes or tears in the netting. Wash the filter occasionally with hot, soapy water to keep any softener from building up on the filter.

Hello Larry, The manufacturer stopped making the felt seal available because it was coming off and causing problems in the blower wheel. The lint screen WP37001142 is still available without the felt seal.
