1 Answer Hello Walter, You will need to pull the refrigerator out to access the back of the units' cabinet. This water line will run through the ceiling of the freezer compartment. The water line has to be disconnected from the water valve and it pulls out of the freezer ceiling from inside the freezer, so the icemaker will need to be removed. Before attempting this, try using a bowl of hot water held under it and a turkey baster to squirt the hot water up into the fitting. This is the fastest way to remove ice from the fitting if it is frozen. Vern October 27, 2013 for Model Number GD5SHAXLT02 The black fill tube to ice maker burst. I found the cup and black tube completely covered with ice. Apparently the formation of the ice expansion ruptured the tube. I assume, based on reply to "Tim", that I need a new 2256096 tube replacement. Is that true or is there something else? 1 Answer Hello Vern, WP2256096 is the correct part for your issue. If ice is still present in the line, you will need to use a turkey baster and a bowl of hot water to thaw it out for removal. Hold the bowl of hot water under the opening in the freezer ceiling and use the turkey baster to "shoot" the hot water up into the water fill tube opening. The water will run back out into the bowl. Dis-connecting the water line from the valve and placing it into a bucket or plastic trash can will aid in this procedure. When the water runs freely out of the water valve end, the tube will normally be ready for removal. Tie and tape a string to the water valve end of the water tube. This will be used in the installation of the new part. Pull the grommet out from the freezer side and use caution not to pull the string all the way through. Dis-connect the string and attach it to the new water tube. Use the string to assist in pulling the tube through. An assistance is of great use here as long as they do not yank on the string and pull it off of the new part. 1 Answer Hello RAJ. If you present valve is similar, you have "john guess" fittings. They work like any other "compression" fitting. You will need to press in on the "... morecollar".(the ring surrounding the tube) and pull out on the tube, to disconnect the tube from the valve outlet. Reverse the procedure to install the tube in the valve outlet. As for removing the fill tube, once you have all the fittings and holders loose and away from the tube. you will need to extract it from the freezer compartment ceiling. 1 Answer Jess, Check and replace or remove the filter EDR5RXD1,if you haven't yet, and check to make sure you have plenty of water pressure(32 PSI) to the fill valve at the back of the refrigerator. Disconnect the water tube at the bottom of the freezer door hinge, and activate the paddle and flush all the air and debris from the system(1/2 to 1 gallon of water) reattach and dispense three or four glasses of water at the dispenser.
