For Whirlpool Refrigerator Ice Maker Wiring Harness (Part Number: OEM18043803)

Hello Jane. Make sure the freezer is between 0° and 5°. You need to check and see if there is power going to the water valve when the icemaker cycles. If so, replace the water valve on the unit. If not, or the icemaker does not cycle, you will need to replace the icemaker on the unit. Also, check and make sure the fill tube on the unit is not frozen and clogged. If so, replace the water valve and thaw out the fill tube. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html

Greg for Model Number Gx5SHDXTQ00

My ice maker was working fine, but was leaking along the front edge (metal was corroded). I purchased a new icemaker (Part # AP4135008), unplugged the refrigerator and installed the new icemaker. And nothing... there is no water filling the icemaker, the ejector arms are not moving, the shut off arm is in the down position. It is as if there is no power to the icemaker. I just took the icemaker back off, rechecked the electrical connections and still nothing. Any ideas? Is there any way to test the unit?

Hello Greg. The unit has to get cold before it will cycle. Leave it in there and it should make ice in 4 to 6 hours.

Hello Laurie. If the water that was poured in did not dump, you will need to replace the icemaker, not the water valve on the unit.

Hello K.C., Remove the white plastic cover from the front of the icemaker assembly. It just snaps on. Once this is off, turn the icemaker and look at the side where the harness connects. On the side of the icemaker there is a small square hole where you can see the plastic molex connector that plugs into the icemaker. Using a small screwdriver, press in on the side closest to the wires. As you do this, pull on the harness and it should slide right out. It will insert without the use of any tools.

Don, The first thing to do is unplug the power cord and tape the freezer drawer light switch closed. disconnect the wires at the fill valve and attach the meter leads to the wires. Using the jumper wire, insert the ends into the "T" and "H" openings in the control head and check for 120 VAC at the wires, when the rake arm reaches the 1 to 2 O'clock position, Good Luck and Thanks
