Jerry S April 02, 2018 for Model Number whirlpool side by side ED5PHEXRQ00 Ordered a new ice maker. The old one has a cover the is longer and has a blower and vent on the side and a duct that goes under the ice tray. The new one does not. Should I use my old cover or just install the new ice maker as it came. The old cover will fit on the new ice maker but I don't know if the electronics are compatible or what the blower actually does or if it is actually needed with the new unit. Thanks
1 Answer Jerry, You will remove the cover and the clips that hold it in place and then you will need to install it and the clips on the new icemaker and remove the cover on the new one. Read More...
Timathie July 12, 2016 for Model Number d7824706 I have an Amana SXS, TC18VW. The ice maker has gone out. I tracked it down to the thermal fuse on the wire harness. Can just the black wire with the fuse be obtained and replaced alone? I have the tools (Molex punch out) and the know how to do this. Since the icemaker itself is shot (bad tray and melted inputs to the heater), I have a new generic replacement on the way but it does not include the harness. Thank you
1 Answer Hello Timathie, I'm sorry but this WPD7813010 is the only way the manufacturer has made the thermal fuse available. Do not bypass the thermal fuse since this can cause a fire. Read More...
Jeff K September 21, 2015 for Model Number whirlpool kbfs20evms2 I bought a new ice maker - I am not getting water to fill the tray, can the harness be bad? The thermal fuse looks to be intact.
1 Answer Hello Jeff. Make sure the freezer is between 0° and 5°. You need to check and see if there is power going to the water valve when the icemaker cycles. If so, replace the water valve on the unit. If not, or the icemaker does not cycle, you will need to replace the icemaker on the unit. Also, check and make sure the fill tube on the unit is not frozen and clogged. If so, replace the water valve and thaw out the fill tube. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
1 Answer Hello Steve. You will want to test for continuity through the wire. It should read closed if it is good. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Aretta March 16, 2015 for Model Number MBF2255KEB I recently purchased a new ice maker because I awoke to find water that had drained from my freezer and the ice maker not working. The icemaker I purchased came with a wire harness and after installing the ice maker, it will not work. I have the wire harness number being D7813010 which states it is for Whirlpool and Maytag both. Is this correct and do you think the harness is why my icemaker is not working?
1 Answer Aretta, the replacement icemaker for your model is part number D7824706Q and harness is part number WPD7813010. If there is no water getting to the icemaker you may have a bad inlet valve, part number WP67003753. Thanks. Read More...
Steve December 18, 2014 for Model Number MBF1956KEB I purchased a new ice maker. I installed unit and just need to know if the black wire is on top or bottom when plugged into the back of freezer compartment of refrigerator
1 Answer Steve, The connector for the icemaker will only fit in one way but believe the black is at the top. Read More...
Doug September 22, 2014 for Model Number AFF2534FEB3 I've had the wiring harness thermal fuse blow on my ice maker now, I believe twice. I replaced the whole ice maker unit prior to installing the fuse/harness. That was only a few months ago. Now it isn't working again. What other things should I look at that might solve my issue?
1 Answer Doug, You will want to check for a short to ground in the wiring of the unit as this would be the only way that the fuse will continually blow. Read More...
John September 11, 2014 for Model Number GB2FHDXWB02 My ice maker works, but leaks water to the bottom of freezer which eventually makes a large flat block of ice and then leaks onto the floor. It seems to leak when the ice maker is filling. I cannot see where it is leaking. How do I stop the leak?
1 Answer John, it is most likely not the icemaker that is leaking. This issue would most likely be that the drain tube for the defrost is frozen and would need to be cleaned out. To do this you will need to remove the rear wall of the freezer and clean out the ice and then replace the drain tube in the back of the unit. The part number for the drain tube is W10619951. Pat May 25, 2014 My icemaker just stopped working. the water in door works fine but no ice, no water fills nothing. I bought a new icemaker but have not installed it yet, should I order a new wire harness also ?
1 Answer Pat, No you shouldn't need a wire harness. If the new ice maker doesn't come with a harness, you can transfer the harness from the original ice maker to the replacement ice maker. But, before you replace the ice maker, you should check or replace the fill valve, on the back of the refrigerator. The valve is more likely to fail before the ice maker would. Read More...
