  • Disconnect power; also shut off gas and allow all surfaces to cool
  • Support the top/panel while removing and installing the hinge to prevent strain
  • Transfer and tighten existing mounting screws unless new hardware is provided

Vivian, You will need to remove the lint filter, once removed, you'll need to remove the two phillips head screws holding the filter housing to the top of the dryer. You will need a putty knife or flat blade tool, approximately 3 to 4 inches in from the side panels there is a spring clip, located in the seam between the top and the front panel, use the tool to press in on the spring clip, and lift up on the corner of the top until it releases from the clip. Youi can then raise the top and access the interior or remove the top as necessary. Good Luck and Thanks

Mikey, You're doing fine, you can tighten the hinge screws back up first. You also need to remove the lint filter, and remove the two screws under the filter that hold the filter housing to the dryer top, then raise it up. Good Luck and Thanks
