For Whirlpool Drain Hose (Washer) (Part Number: OEM18027342)

Charles for Model Number Whirlpool drain hose wp40053901

On the drain hose, there are a couple of "flat spots" and I wonder if those are the only places to use the brackets? It seems to me that if I use the flat spot nearest the drain pump, the hose is so long that it gets kinked (black rubber portion) between the drain pump and the bracket. Is it okay to secure the brackets anywhere on the hose that allows me to avoid that, or does that prevent me from securing the hose fully? Thanks!

Hello Charles, the hose areas where there are no ribs are there is the hose needs to be shortened or lengthened, the u-bend bracket goes anywhere on the hose length, the end should go just about 6 inches into the standpipe to avoid siphoning.

Adrian, The drain hose WP40053901 connects to the drain pump 27001233 located at the front of the machine. You will need to remove the front panel of the washer(two/2 screws) and loosen/remove the hose clamp, then slide the hose out the back of the cabinet. Then reverse the procedure and test the washer for leaks and operation.
