The Icemaker is an OEM part for Whirlpool refrigerators. This component is responsible for producing ice automatically in the freezer compartment. It includes the mold that forms the ice cubes and the mechanism that releases them into the ice bucket.

Causes of a bad icemaker can include wear and tear from regular use, mineral buildup from hard water, electrical malfunctions, or damage to the mechanical components. These issues can lead to inefficient ice production or complete failure of the icemaker.

Symptoms of a bad icemaker include:

  • No ice production
  • Ice cubes being too small or misshapen
  • Leaks or water pooling inside the freezer
  • Unusual noises during the ice-making cycle

This OEM part is also compatible with Maytag, KitchenAid, Jenn-Air, Amana, Magic Chef, Admiral, Norge, Roper, and some Kenmore models.

For Whirlpool Icemaker (Part Number: OEM21042042)

Royce for Model Number KSCS25FVSS02

A year or so, I replaced the ice maker. Worked fine until about a month ago. Now, while I get ice, I also have water dripping all inside the freezer compartment leaving ice cicles and frozen water on the packages inside the freezer. I do not use ice very much (a widower now), so currently, I just turn off the icemaker and clean up the ice on the frozen food. When I need ice, I turn it back on, get a full compliment of ice in the dispenser and then turn off the ice maker. Long term, this is not the answer. Do I need another ice maker?

Hello Royce. If the icemaker is overfilling, replace the water valve. However, if the icemaker is leaking, just replace the icemaker.
