Bo R September 26, 2022 for Model Number 59672383411 Trying to diagnose if I need to replace ice maker. It does not produce ice, and if I put ice in the ice container it melts. I have defrosted the refrigerator but that had no effect, still no ice. Is there a fan in the ice maker that pulls air to freeze and produced ice and also keep produced ice frozen.
1 Answer Bo R, Based on the information provided it sounds like a cooling issue if the ice is melting in the bucket. Check for proper airflow to the ice compartment if the freezer is at the proper temps. Read More...
Jaime August 12, 2022 for Model Number Whirlpool gold series We just replaced the ice maker since it stopped making ice. Now the new one seems to have life but when we go into diagnostic mode and select test 59 it keeps showing code 12. The board in the ice maker continues to keep moving and does not stop. This is a new machine. Please advise what is going on.
1 Answer Hello Jamie, This sounds like you have received a bad new part. Please contact us at 1-877-477-7278 so we can set up a warranty exchange for the icemaker. Thank you for your patience and understanding in this matter. Read More...
Rick April 10, 2022 for Model Number WRF736SDAM14 Installed new ice maker (old one was getting error code E5 with service test 56). Now with new ice maker, I’m getting error code E3, and with service test 59, I’m getting 02, harvesting not completed
1 Answer Rick, with the unit set to test 58, the main control W10854027 would need to be tested for voltage output and it should have 120VAC when tested from the wire at connection P12 pin 6 to the wire at connection P1 pin 2. If there is not voltage, the main control has failed. If there is, the ice maker wire connection would need to be tested from the black wire with a white stripe to the white wire. If there is not voltage at this point, there is a wire failure. Read More...
Tyler March 31, 2022 for Model Number WRX988SIBM01 Ice maker was not filling with ice. Ran service test 56 and received E2 = Motor Lost Position. I then ran service test 57 and received the code for harvesting not completed. Do I need to replace ice maker assembly (part WPW10764668)?
1 Answer Tyler, based on the information provided, the failure would be the ice maker W11577195. Read More...
Eric November 04, 2021 for Model Number WRF989SDAM00 Hello, My ice maker which is 15 months old, I replaced the original one after it failed, stopped making ice a few weeks ago. It fills with water but does not freeze. I ran all tests and test 56 returns error E5 and test 32 returns 02 'Open'. All other tests pass. Any thoughts? Thank you.
1 Answer Eric, the test 32 showing open is going to indicate a failure in the user interface W10861425. In regards to the test 56 showing E5, this is going to indicate timed ice making. This can be caused by a failed control or a failed thermistor. As the test 32 showed a failed user interface (which includes the main control) it would likely be a control failure for the error code and the water not freezing in the ice maker. Read More...
Steve August 20, 2021 for Model Number KRFF707ESS00 Hello. I just asked a question earlier. My icemaker pulls water and it gets cold but never freezes into ice. You said it's likely due to a faulty board not sending voltage to the icemaker fan to remain on all the time. But which board is it? I see multiple boards behind. Is it WPW10453401 or W10807590? Thanks again.
1 Answer Hello Steve, the icebox/ice maker fan can be tested using the Tech Sheet test 36 for operation. It is controlled by the main control board W10807590. Read More...
Steve August 19, 2021 for Model Number KRFF707ESS00 In the diagnostic test blower fan runs and I feel cold air coming through so voltage is good and so is the fan. Also the icemaker pulls water in it if I run the test on it. Problem is that the water becomes really cold inside icemaker but never freezes for it to become ice. What would cause that issue? I don't seem to have any cooling issues neither inside the freezer compartment nor fresh food compartment and I also don't have any error codes. Thanks.
1 Answer Steve, The most likely cause for this is that the fan is not running during normal operation even though it will run during the diagnostics. When this occurs the most likely cause will be a problem with the control board not sending voltage to the icemaker fan due to a faulty board. Read More...
Anthony August 06, 2021 for Model Number Wrf736sdam13 I was receiving error code e2 on test 56. I replaced ice maker with new and ran test 59 and passed both tests. Ice maker is still not making ice and is still giving me error code e2 after passing test 59 multiple times.
1 Answer Hello Anthony, start by unplugging the ref for about 5 minutes, which will clear the fault code out of the main control board's memory. Give the ref about 24 hours to see if it then makes ice. The fault code refers to an internal problem in the ice maker. Read More...
Sara June 22, 2021 for Model Number WRF736SDAM14 I'm getting E2 on test 56 but everything is passed on test 59. The fridge is 5 years old, should I be testing any other codes or just replace the assembly?
1 Answer Sara, Based on the information provided I would check test 56 again and if it continues to give the E2 code then yes replace it as instructed. Read More...
Antonio April 19, 2021 for Model Number WRX988SIBM01 I just replaced my ice maker WPW10764668 for the fourth time: (1) The original ice maker failed after 5 years with T56 reporting E5 (2) The second ice maker failed after 1 year with T56 reporting E5 (3) The third ice maker failed after 2 weeks with T57 reporting 03 (yep, not listed) and T58 reporting 03 (4) The fourth ice maker (I just installed yesterday) seemingly failing after 1 day with T56 reporting E5. Do these ice makers have a high rate of manufacturing defects? It is reasonable that I could have received two defective ice makers in a row? Is it possible that there is something else wrong in the fridge? At the moment, the water in the ice maker is freezing and will randomly decide to be harvested, but the rate that ice is being made seems way slower than it should be and the "Fast Ice" option doesn't kick on the ice box fan unless I unplug the power to the fridge (which resets the error code) and then the ice box fan will kick on (until E5 is hit again). Any ideas? Should I just try for another ice maker and hope I don't get another defect?
1 Answer Hello Antonio, test 56 E5 indicates the control board has reverted to a timed ice maker harvest, meaning it is based on time rather than temperature. This is likely being caused by a slow or stopped ice fan W10846539 which does not run a full speed normally, it the fan motor is dragging it would account for the slower ice and the fault code. At startup the control board runs the fan at full speed then slows it down as needed, at the lower speed it may be too slow (due to wear) to help pull freezer air up around the ice maker. Read More...
