Customer Questions and Answers for Fuse (Time-Delay) by Whirlpool

Best Seller
Manufacturer Part

By: Whirlpool
Part Number: OEM18044205
Manufacturer Part Number: WPW10017410

This time-delay fuse protects the appliance's power circuit by opening when current exceeds a safe level while tolerating brief inrush current. Replacing a blown fuse can help restore power once the root cause is corrected. What it does:

  • Protects the line and control circuits from shorts and overloads
  • Time-delay design helps prevent nuisance opening during startup surges
  • When open, the unit will be completely dead—no display, lights, or response
  • Repeatedly opening usually indicates an unresolved electrical fault that needs diagnosis
What's included:
  • 1 time-delay fuse
Install notes:
  • Disconnect power at the breaker before servicing; some appliances can retain dangerous high voltage
  • Replace only with the same type and rating specified by the manufacturer
  • Inspect the fuse holder and wiring for heat damage or loose connections before reassembly
  • If the new fuse opens immediately, stop and diagnose the underlying cause; never bypass or upsize a fuse

Frank for Model Number kemc378kss01

After an outage that lasted only a few seconds everything in my home came back, (TV, computer, clocks, etc.) except for my Kitchen Aid electric oven/micro combination. I had a error PF=27 and tried to remove by cancel key which removed the error code but then got a message "oven door locked" and when I opened the oven door got "oven door open" and none of he keys including he clock would respond on oven or micro. I turned off the power at the fuse box for the oven only. What happened?? Thank You

Frank,

With this issue it sounds likely that the control board on the unit was affected by the power surge and will need to replace the control board on the unit.

Paul,

This issue would most likely be an issue with the door switches on the unit. You can test the switches for continuity.

Chuck,

Unfortunately we do not have any information Emerson products but it would most likely be located behind the control panel.

Hello Bill,
While the model number you listed is for the washer, the thermal fuse WP3390719 on the dryer is located on the blower housing. This will be accessed by removing the kick panel. You will see it listed as part number 59 on the bulkhead page if your unit is the same model number I am looking at since the model for the dryer is not listed.

Diane for Model Number KEMS306XBL2

Microwave is dead. I placed food to heat up last night - pressed cook and pressed 100 for time then pressed start and it came on and went out like a fuse blew or tuning off a light switch. It's a built-in unit with electric oven below. electric oven works. All other buttons in panel nothing-- i tried clean on the oven which is controlled by panel and that will not work. Shutoff breakers and turned back on - nothing. I read where it may be the fuse. No issues was working fine before this.

Hello Diane,

It sounds like the fuse WPW10017410 blew. This is normally caused by the door being opened while the unit is running or a door switch going into failure. The part number for the one door switch and the fuse in a kit is 4312819. The other two switches 4392027 come in a kit together also.
