For Whirlpool Gas Range Oven Bake Igniter (Part Number: OEM18023487)

Georgina, It would be recommended to test to see if there is 120 Vac getting to the igniter. If there is not then the issue will be with the control. If there is power getting to the igniter then it sounds like you may have received a faulty igniter. These igniters are carbon-based and are very fragile so if it gets a small crack it could cause it to not operate.

Denny for Model Number ARG7800WW

Oven quit working. Broiler and stovetop work fine. Figured it was the igniter, so got a new one and installed - easy job. Still no glow at the igniter. Checked continuity of the igniter and multimeter showed 90ohms resistance - seems OK. Hooked igniter to stove plug end to check voltage - turned oven on and voltage cycled once the relay in the control board clicked. Not sure what the multimeter should read. Didn't check current at the plug. As mentioned, relay in the control board seems to work - 'clicks' to start oven. Checked connections on the gas control safety valve, which seem OK. Not certain what to try next? Really thought it would be as simple as the igniter. Thanks!

Hello Denny. If the ignitor is new, and there is no power coming to it, then either the wiring or the erc 31944801 is bad and will need to be replaced on the unit.

Nita, If the storage drawer will not open then you will want to find some way to access what is in it to get it loose so that it will open. It sounds like something that would be blocking it that will not allow it to open.

Hello Larry. It sounds like the igniter is weak and will need to be replaced. Test for 3.2-3.6 volts AC at the gas safety valve with the igniter turned on. If the voltage is there, you have a bad safety valve. If the voltage is low, you have a weak igniter and the igniter will need to be replaced. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html

Patty, the model number can be located on the center of the vent trim with the door open, on the oven side of the door jamb with the door open, if it has a bottom drawer it can be on the sides or inside of the drawer. Thanks!
