Yycpaul November 28, 2013 for Model Number Kitchenaid TKGRC608LSO I'm having issues having my oven light on bake. I have removed the igniter (part 9782065). What does the manfucaturer the resistance should be? I am thinking this might be my problem. It is reading 246 ohms.
1 Answer YYCPaul, The resistance rating on the igniter should be around 1400 ohms. You can also do an amp draw with the oven turn to bake and check for 3.2 to 3.6 amps on the line for the igniter. If there is less than 3.2 amps then the igniter is bad and if there is 3.2 to 3.6 then the safety valve is bad. Read More...
Terry October 22, 2013 for Model Number KGRT507BWH1 I just replaced both the oven igniter (9751123) and broiler igniter (9751784). Oven igniter works and oven comes on, but broiler igniter never heats past orange and broiler does not work. Oven had only recently failed prior to repair; broiler had not worked for some time, but before replacement both igniters were getting to orange, but not igniting the oven or broiler. Any thoughts, tips, or checks to determine the problem?
1 Answer Hello Terry. You need to order and replace the gas valve WP9755424 on the unit if the igniter is new and is glowing. Read More...
John C July 22, 2013 for Model Number kgrt607 kitchen aid gas range when i turn on my gas cook top a strong odor comes out, almost smells like exhaust from the oven vent
1 Answer John, Have you recently used a petroleum based product inside the house ( oil based paint, varnish, pesticide, floor wax, etc.) ? If you have, this could be a normal by product of the chemicals left in the air. You may not smell it, but when the air is drawn over the flame or heated, the molecules expand and produce an odor. Carbon monoxide is odorless so it's not that. Are the burner flames blue, with little or no yellow or white tipping, this would indicate a properly adjusted fuel air mix and proper burn characteristics. Read More...
Steve October 21, 2012 for Model Number GW395LEGB5 My oven will only heat to 450°F. No other temperature and when using it smells like gas a little. Would this be the ignitor or is there a thermo coupler I'm not seeing?
1 Answer Hello Steve, If the unit will only set to 450°F and not cooler or hotter, this has to be in the control circuit of the electronic control, (EEPROM). The temperature sensor could not cause this and nothing about the operating circuit can either. The only fix for this is to replace the microcomputer WP9753639. Read More...
Barry August 13, 2012 for Model Number KGRT607HWH4 I understand how to test the valve with a multimeter but is there a a way to meter the igniter to see if it is the problem. Since there are two of them, it would make me feel better to know one of the igniters was bad or the valve was bad rather than know the valve is good but not which igniter to replace. Thanks for any help.
1 Answer Hello Barry. According to the manufacture the igniter WP9782065 should read 85 to 95 ohms. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
John D July 26, 2012 for Model Number KitchenAid Model # KGRT607HWH4 Gave you the wrong model number in my earlier email...should be KGRT607HWH4. Sorry about that. Question: Where does the wire harness plug in under the oven or on the back panel?
1 Answer Hello John. If you remove the igniter WP9782065 from inside the oven, you usually can pull the connector out of the hole and replace the igniter on the unit. Read More...
Rick May 30, 2012 for Model Number GW395LEGQ1 When testing for the 3.2 to 3.6 VAC at the gas safety valve, do you measure voltage across the gas safety valve or across the gas safety valve and ignitor, or from the gas safety valve to ground? It appears the gas safety valve and ignitor are wired in series.
Rick May 30, 2012 for Model Number GW395LEGQ1 Oven is slow to ignite and you can smell gas occasionally. Does the igniter need to be replaced?
1 Answer Hello Rick. Test for 3.2-3.6 volts AC at the gas safety valve with the igniter turned on. If the voltage is there, you have a bad safety valve. If the voltage is low, you have a weak igniter and the igniter will need to be replaced. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Atl0510 February 07, 2012 Hi I have read the link few times but rule 1 says disconnect the power supply and rule 2 disconnect the wiring connected the any component you are testing. For my case, you suggested to test for 3.2-3.6 volts AC at the gas safety valve with the igniter turned on. My questions are 1. I should NOT disconnect the power supply or the wires before I start BAKE function ?? 2. Choose the 200 setting on my digital meter? 3. See if voltage of the display shows 3.2-3.6 volts AC or lower than that to ? Thank you!!
1 Answer Hello Atl0510. You will need to have the power connected and the unit set to the bake mode. You will test at the gas valve and set your meter to read 3.2 to 3.6 VAC. If the correct voltage is there, you have a bad gas valve. If the voltage is low, the igniter is bad and will need to be replaced. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. Hope this helps. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html Read More...
Rich October 07, 2011 for Model Number kgrt607hbs6 Do I have to use this Whirlpool ignitor or is there a cheaper universal ignitor that will work?
1 Answer Hello Rich! Unfortunately, we do not have any cross references listed for the oven burner igniter WP9782065. This is the only part we can suggest for your appliance. Thanks. Read More...
